I am writing this in response to the last review as I want to say that I strongly disagree with the comments about JT Safaris,
me and my husband stayed at the baobab hotel just got back home on the 12 june 2009. I work in the travel industry in the UK and we booked all of our trips with Julius of JT Safaris and had absolutely no problems whatsoever.
We booked our safari to the masai mara with him which was 5 star all the way and no one could beat the price we got and theres no question of being short changed as he only takes a deposit before you go and the balance when you get back and only if you are completely happy with everything.
We also booked a trip to mombasa with Julius which was also brilliant we had our own car to take us and our own private guide at half the price of bigger companies, and we booked a trip to Wasini Island to snorkel and go dolphin spotting and the same again no problems with anything a fantastic day out which again as with the safari a deposit paid for these and then the balance when Julius knows you are happy with everything, he always rings to make sure you are happy with everything.
I dont believe there is any way Julius would ever rip anybody off as he is so honest, my husband wanted to go fishing to catch big fish and Julius advised it was the wrong time of year and he would only catch small ones and we know this to be true as talking to a lot of people at the hotel who had been with other companies, they said they hardly caught anything and what they did was small-if Julius was out to rip people off he could just take the booking and your money and not bother but it is always his first priority to make sure his clients have the best possible time and get the most out of whatever they have booked with him-he also offered to get one of his drivers to take us to shops etc. for free if we ever wanted to go and he also took us to a local school for free which was great to help the local kids with pens, books etc that we had taken.
All in all I would have no hesitation in recommending and booking again with Julius and Jamelia is also great help as well, thanks for everything we had a fantastic time.
I am writing a separate review for the hotel

Have just spent the last two weeks at the Kole Kole and had a fab time, we had our 16 year old daughter with us and she loved it as well. the place is great, the staff are excellant and cant do enough for you. Every where you go is Jambo, Jambo (hello) the place is so clean and tidy, the rooms are excellant ours had 2 large double beds with nets. The pool was the infinity pool and we spent hours laid against the wall looking at the clear blue indian ocean. Before we went we heard about the beach boys being a pest, but they wern't bad and you just had to say NO. You can do some good deals if you bear in mind that they normally want about a 1/3rd of their starting price. The animation team were superb they did evening performances were brilliant. We had a 3 day safari with First African Dream Safari (www.fadsafaris.com) our driver nicki was excellant, he was able to identify all animals and tell us loads of information about them. The safari lodges which are used by all the main travel companies are basic but avoid Voi you can it takes basic a bit far. But seeing all the animals made up for a night of discomfort. the next lodge which was Nugarli was much better and we even saw a leapord eating from the restaurant . One thing noone had pointed out before we went you do have to make a river crossing on a ferry as Mombassa is a island. Can take a while if you get there in the middle of the day. We did need to use the hospital during our stay and the place is first class so don't be afraid of having to attend if necessary. The only real problem we encountered was having to travel Kenya Airways as Thompson World wide couldn't get us on a Thompson flight, Nairobi is a complete disaster as an airport and don't believe anyone in England who tells you your baggage goes straight to Mombassa it does not you have to go through imigration, baggage control, customs then go outside the airport cross a car park and road and go into the domesic terminal, no one tells you the process and we started by standing in a long transfer queue. Get your visa before you go it saves alot of waiting, luckily we did and were able to sail through once we found out what we had to do. coming back its ok as the baggage does come straight through, the reason is that you technically leave the airport at Nairobi. We would return to the Kole Kole again and would reccomend both the resort and Mike and Nicki for a safari. Don't worry if your safari guides ask to meet you outside the resort, this is because the resort is mainly Thompson and they want you to book their safari at twice the price.

Stayed at Kole Kole wing for 2 weeks in March. Stunning location and excellent facilities. Service and staff amazing. Diani Beach and the warm Indian Ocean are what dreams are made of. Whilst there, take the time to book a safari. We used JT Safaris to fly to the Masai Mara for 4 days / 3 nights, inclusive of a ballon trip. The whole experience was exhilarating and made effortless by Julius and his staff. We had contacted him prior to departure and paid a small deposit on our trip. He was very professional and telephoned us on the day we arrived to arrange a meeting and finalise our plans. Everything we had asked for and could hope for was delivered. Be careful, as there is another Julius Safaris that we cannot vouch for. The person we used was Julius Nzumbi, email jtsafaris@yahoo.com. Make sure you are speaking to or dealing with Julius K Nzumbi. Highly recommended.

this was our second trip to the baobab in the last year and we will be returning again. kole kole has fab setting and the rooms are great much more spacious than baobab. it can get a little loud at some points during the day with activities but if you dont want it there are lots of gardens and 2 other pools to escape to the mariadi pool has no entertainment at all . the staff in the hotel go above and beyond the call of duty they cannot be faulted tha animation team are great and dont be afraid to ask if you want to visit local schools or villages they will be more than happy to take you.the beach boys in my opinion are totally harmless they are happy to walk and chat and when you are not to familiar with the beach can advise you where to swim ect.i travelled as a single woman with my teenage son and felt safe at all times and never intimidated . all in all this is a fab hotel great location beautiful beach.

My partner and I stayed at Baobab complex in January we upgraded to a Kole Kole superior room, it was a perfect room with a sea view, 2 comfortable double beds and a balcony overlooking the gardens down to the white sandy beach. The location of this hotel is just perfect. We found the food to be excellent with a wide variety of choices at breakfast lunch and Dinner freshly prepared each time although for some reason the chips always seemed to be cold, perhaps that’s the way they like them in Kenya, anyway if anyone goes hungry here then we would like to know why.

The people that work here are amongst the most friendly people you could wish for, always smiling and saying Jambo and catering for your every need, and the entertainment team put on some pretty cool acrobatic shows in the evening as well as the usual water polo/ beach volleyball etc during the day. They all work very hard I must say I didn’t really notice the music around the pool during our stay but my partner did so I guess it must be there, besides there is always the option to go to a quieter place in the gardens.

The hotel is spotless in every sense of the word and someone is always cleaning something, one of the funniest times of the day was around 5pm when the security guards would chase away the baboons that would venture into the grounds rummaging the bins, they leave the little Colombus monkeys to stroll freely and its not unusual to have one slumbered on your balcony.

We booked a day trip to Shimba Hills Safari through JT Safaris before we left england and I must say that if possible book direct with the locals, your tour company may inflate the prices for their own gain just surf and look at previous holiday makers trips they are this is the best way of finding out what you can get for you money. Julias came to meet us at the hotel as agreed to arrange final details and did not want any money until our trips were over. The trip itself went without a hitch and we were picked up and returned us outside the hotel as agreed. We had a good day We also had booked a day trip snorkelling with JT Safaris but we had to cancel this one due to over doing the sun with only 24 hours notice, again there was no trouble from the company and Julias even came to the hotel to make sure everything was ok.

Now to the beach boys/Men. We had read about them before we had left and admit that the first time we went onto the beach we were intimidated as they surround you and you find it hard to walk they can spot a new comers straight away!!, however after a couple of days we decided that they were not going to stop us going onto what has to be considered one of the best beaches in the world so we simply went on and the only words we spoke were Hakuna Pishwari ( not sure of spelling ) we asked the security garuds for some local language but it means NO BUSINESS. After a while they got the message and just left us to stroll as we pleased, you will always get the occasional one that would walk alongside you but just tell them to go away firmly and politely and they will. At the end of the day they are only out to make a living. Be prepared to bargain they are very trying!!!

All in all we had an excellent week here and I would recommend this hotel to anyone, the weather was hot and sunny every day heaven when its January wet and cold in the UK if you don’t like it here then quite frankly you shouldn’t have a passport!!

Had a brilliant 2 weeks in Kenya and it fullfilled all that we hoped for in a once in a lifetime holiday and wonderful honeymoon! We strongly recommend this resort and Julius from JT Safaris who was true to his word throughout our stay( more on that later!!)

On arrival after a very hot and sweaty journey we were greeted by friendly staff, cold drinks and cold flannels (bliss!) We stayed in a deluxe room that was beautifully decorated and was very clean and comfortable. It was worth upgrading as the room was very large and luxurious with a great sea view, the other rooms did not seem as large or as close to the sea.

We booked our safari with the lovely Julius from JT safaris ([-]). We were initially worried about this as we wanted to book it before we left the UK. Our tour operator was very keen for us to use them but thanks to a friend's advice we choose Julius. He has an informative website and we e-mailed him directly to discuss the safari and he e-mailed back promptly and reassured us!!

We arranged to meet Julius on our 1st day at the hotel gates which felt a bit odd but he is not allowed on site. He arrived as promised and we confirmed our trip. We gave him money for a deposit but he did not want the full payment until we had done the safari to make sure we were happy with it all! What an honest guy! The trip was cheaper booking with him than the tour operators with the money going directly to the local people and we had a van to ourselves which was great (particularly when we saw the other vans stuffed with 6-8 people!)

We did a 4 day ( 3 night ) safari to Tsavo West, Amboseli and Tsavo East. We had a good driver-Carlos who was informative and answered all our questions! The drive to Amboseli was extremely bumpy and dusty and not for the faint hearted, however was well worth it as it was so different from the other two parks and the plains full of animals were a spectular sight! We stayed in 2 lodges and one tented accomodation which was great and very comfortable. The roughest accomodation was Ngulia lodge, Tsavo West as it was dated and abit shabby however we saw the best animals there, very close up and were woken at 1am by elephants right outside our balcony!!!-(absolutely magic and worth putting up with the interior decor!!)

We have many amazing memories of the safari ( and thousands of photos!!) and our thanks goes to Julius who arranged it all and was very reliable, helpful and trustworthy!
You can't go to Kenya without doing a safari and make sure you book it with Julius-he won't let you down!

After the safari we returned to Kole Kole which seemed a real luxury!!

We found ALL of the hotel staff really friendly and very helpful, making our stay a pleasant experience! They work so hard and do such long shifts! We'd like to thank them all for making our stay so memorable! JAMBO to you all (especially Kennedy, Serah, Jackie and Richard, all the security staff, the gardeners and all that work tirelessly behind the scenes!) All the restaurant staff were also great even at the early hours and at busy times! A smile was never far away!

The hotel is spilt into 3 areas but you can access all parts (bars and pools). This made the resort feel spacious in general but also cosy and friendly in your own section. The pool in Kole Kole was fantasic and great to look over the wall at the beach! The spa was not inclusive in the prize and that also includes the use of the jacuzzi ( not mentioned in the brochure!) There is a very high standard of food and a huge choice that changes every day within the buffet. Also you have access to the Seafood restaurant which is additional but worth it for a special occasion. There were alot of Italians at Kole Kole which was abit overpowering initially but there were a few other english also!

Beware of the monkeys as they are wild and hungry! Unfortunately many people find it amusing to feed these but they are known to bite and it only encourages them to scavenge more! Keep your balcony door shut at all times and never walk about with food in your hands!!

The beach is stunning, really breath taking and beautiful! Soft white sands and warm waters to bathe in! There is alot of coral and sea urchins about so its worth packing swim shoes- swimming in flip flops is hard work!! The tide goes in and out a long way and the reef offshore is exposed twice a day for boat excursions. Bookable in resort!

The biggest problem is the beach boys! There are alot and they are determined to sell you something always! They are only trying to make a living and are desperate for business. Most are friendly but all want your custom!! They are nice blokes but at times it got abit draining! No quite romantic walks for 2 here!! There are many stalls to the left of the hotel in a small alley way which sell an enormous stock of wood carvings, paintings, jewellery, sarongs etc but be ready to haggle! Do buy here and not in the local supermarket-their lives depend on it!!!

We would also recommend Diving -The Crab, the dive school on site. I did an introductory dive ( 2 dives in one morning) which was fantastic! Great sealife, lots of turtles and wierd looking fish! Samson the dive instructor and his team were brilliant and very safety conscious. I have done dives in many other places round the world but no where compares to their safety standards! They were very professional and it was a real highlight of the holiday!! There is a strong current though so beware!!

We also used the Water sports centre where we did windsurfing! Hassan was fantastic, a very patient teacher and we picked it up in no time! Do give one of the water sports a go - its a beautiful place to try something new!

Overall we had a brilliant time and strongly recommend it to anyone!! The Kenyans are really lovely and friendly people! We miss it and have thought about it every day since we got home! It was one of our best holidays and a truly wonderful honeymoon!!
