The journey to the lodge is three hours my car from Nairobi or forty five minutes by flight. We were driven and it was well worth the drive, even with the rough roads coming upto the house. Upon arrival, we were both gobsmacked at what a beautiful location it has. Set about seventy five meters from the edge of the lake, you instantly recognise the birds, monkeys, hippos and buffalo. We stayed in the cottage to the left of the main house and it was lovely. We even had a guard to protect us from the animals. The accomodation was rustic (everything worked but no mossie nets) but it suited the house superbly.
The host, heather was wonderful. Her attention to detail was excellent and made us feel like invited guests. Dinner is served on a long table in the dining room where all the guests and Heather sat. And it made us feel like were back in Colonial Kenya. The tours organised were brilliant and all the guides / locations were first class. This house was quite frankly superb and I would go back for longer in a heart beat.
The only downside is the rough road around the house, however that responsibility resides with the Government to get a grip, but i don't think that will happen soon.
