“Africa for the faint-hearted.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

Chui Lodge is well appointed in lovely gardens looking over a water hole satisfyingly filled, during our stay, with hordes of frolicsome buffalo. We found the rooms clean and comfortable and the food, on the whole, pretty good. The restaurant is eccentrically decorated and the winning floor show for us was a very badly behaved Vervet monkey that made off with our food at every opportunity - to the joy of the other punters! The staff were charming and the attention to detail impressive, down to the lovely bunch of roses we were given as we left. Oserian is truly beautiful in a Garden of Eden-ish sort of way - if not exactly Africa in the raw. Somehow a leopard tucking into a bit of meat that has been stapled to a tree by human hand doesn't seem to quite cut the mustard, though we much applaud Oserian's aim to act as a game corridor.

Chui is a great spot for a relaxing weekend out of Nairobi, and definitely a safe bet for the ageing relative. We would certainly go back for either of the above reasons. We very much enjoyed our stay.

I took clients to Chui lodge in 8th Feb 2013 and the staffs we so friendly we were given flowers from Oserian on our departure date, the game drive at Oserian Wildlife santuary was superb, we even saw Rhinos at the water-pool. the waiters asked the clients what to prepare for them. He was told to surprise them with her best, in deed he managed and they really enjoyed.

Room Tip: Shemeji Banda was best for me.

A nice feature of this lodge is the adjacent pasture where you can see game grazing all day. The lodge is middle aged now. In the bar and restaurant the unusdual and striking art has last well but the rooms are a little tired. Highlights for us were the bush breakfast and sundowners by the lakeside, watching the hippos as well as the walks.

Everything about this lodge was excellent. Right from the pleasant staff and the way they received us. The location is quite a distance from the main road but once you get there, the views are amazing with the animals walking right next to the lodge. The interior decor of rooms is amazing and makes one feel like royalty in the wild. The food is superb both in taste and presentation. The whole atmosphere is one of total peace and relaxation. Highly recommend it for retreats or honeymoons.

Room Tip: Room at the furthest corner from the club house on the lower side. Awesome and peaceful.

This is a private property has it's own fenced reserve of around 20,000 acres The staff is friendly and helpful. The food superb. The game drive and an evening game drive ending with a bonfire and wine in the reserve is very exciting. The Chui Lodge is a beautifully laid out camp in the Oserian wildlife sanctuary, built in a traditional African style .

Room Tip: All rooms are good

We just spent one night at Chui Lodge on our way from the Masai Mara to Nairobi. The main lodge and the eight cottages are simply works of art. Amazing carvings, paintings and hand made furniture. After a long drive from the Masai I stood in the infinity pool overlooking the game preserve and couldn't believe what an amazing spot we had fallen into. The service was great, the food outstanding with my only regret being we couldn't stay a second night. The lodge is an ideal spot for a few day visit from Nairobi as game rides and a cruise on Lake Navaisha can easily fill two days.

Having been born and brought up in Kenya, but not having returned for many years, this was an epic trip covering many parts of the country and now returning with my own family. Lake Naivasha was a place I use to spend many childhood weekends so this area was on the list to visit. After many hours of researching, Chui Lodge was by far receiving some of the best reviews and we were definitely not disappointed. I dare anyone not to feel completely refreshed after visiting Chui Lodge, no matter how stressful their life! This place is magical, from the abundant wildlife to the conservation, from the staff to the cuisine, from the accommodation to the quietly attentive service. Not that we were looking, but we could not find one tiny negative about this place and we have travelled to many parts of the world and stayed in wonderful places. Do come here, you will not regret one single second. Chris our guide was outstanding and an extremely nice and knowledgeable man. The morning bush walk along the shores of the lake, with giraffe and zebra ambling by, dik dik scampering off, antelopes at play, warthogs always looking so busy and hippos languishing in the shallows of the lake basking in the morning sun was glorious. Before the evening sundowner drive, Chris found us leopard and white rhino, buffalo and so much else. Our daughters of 18 and 20 (usually a hard age to please!) were completely captivated by everyone and everything. We can't wait to go back. One word of warning...do not expect to lose any weight whilst there.....the food is outstandingly good.

Room Tip: There are only about eight lodges in the complex, so all are equally good. They all face the waterho...
