“Great walking safari”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Crescent Island, which is not actually and island, but does require a boat trip is well worth the time and money. Remember to bring cash as there is an entrance fee which some hotels forget to mention. Since there are no high level predators, you walk the reserve. We didn't even have a guide. It was great. We wandered around the herds of zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, impala, giraffes and more. I discovered later in our trip that that was quite a treat.

“Not very exciting”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

Seemed like a great idea to take a walk among the wildebeast, Zebras & birds on this island but turned out to be tame and unexciting. If you have been for safaris in the Game Reserves this is not worth the trouble.

“Peaceful boat night and nature walk”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Our boat-ride on lake Naivasha and walk on Crecent Island were both a great change after several days in vehicles.
We would have loved the 40-minute boat ride to be twice as long as there is much to see on the lake and surrounds - nesting birds, flying birds, foraging birds, hippos in the water and on the banks. Great photo opportunities. The only thing that we did not like was the feeding of the fish-eagles, which seemed wrong. Either the fish-eagles thought the same or they were full, as they resisted the party trick and the grey-headed gulls had a feast!
The walk on the Island was also very good and the guide was informative. We saw various antelope, including Wildebeeste plus Zebra and more birdlife. You can get quite close to the animals as they are well-habituated to humans as vistors are frequent and a number of films have been made there. Were surpised at how little insect life we saw.
If permitted, agree with the reviewer who suggested taking a packed lunch and spending the day there.
Take binoculars, camera, water plus something to shield equipment from spray on the boat ride. Although the boats do not go very fast, they sit low in the water so some spray is inevitable, especially if you are near the front. Comfortable walking shoes are fine - it is not territory that requires boots.

“Not much to see”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Unfortunately wit all the rain the dam has risen a lot. All the wild life was forced to move to high grounds and this is unfortunately into the private property areas. Security moves around and stops you from crossing into the private lands.
