The title says it all, Elsamere, beyond the rich and fascinating history of the place and of the people who created it, is a quite and cosy lodge on the shore of Lake Naivasha.
What I liked there is the beautiful garden, the excellent food (don't miss the pastries and cakes at tea time), the beautiful views on the lake and a good service. An ideal place to rest and relax for one or two days. The rooms are clean, simple, a bit old sometimes, but comfortable. Be aware of the hippos who graze in the garden at night.
I surely recommend this place.

We stayed for two nights in December 2012. The rooms were nicely equipped, showers had hot water, food was good, and we loved learning more about Joy and George Abramson and their life work. The grounds are immaculate and the staff very attentive. We particularly enjoyed sitting on at strategically located tables on the expansive lawn watching the antics of the vervet and collobus monkeys.

We visited the Joy and George Adamson home in Lake Naivasha, which is now being run as a research centre, field study, museum and accommodation.
We took the day package which included a viewing of a documentary on the amazing work that Joy and George were involved in, a visit to the on-site museum, and afternoon tea on the lawn.
The grounds are beautiful, peaceful and relaxing and the whole visit was well worth it

We visited mid December, with a group of friends and spent a night here. We had lunch at a different lodge still Naivasha, and were booked here for dinner and breakfast the following day.Would say the service was excellent, and better than even some other highly priced lodges/hotels in Naivasha.

The location: best so far. very close to the lake, and all the cottages have a view of the lake! what a great way to end your day or start a day. The rooms are big enough and clean. Hot/cold showers not an issue.

Food: Would give it average. The selection is not much, but don't forget this is a small property, with only 10rooms so would expect maximum of 30 guests. However, with prior notice, they are more than accommodating and would fix you a meal if whats on the day's menu is not favorable with you.

Would recommend this to everyone, and mainly couples who would like to have quiet time away from the crowds and those who really appreciate nature. The hotel has really kept it natural, not preserved, true to their main business; conservation.

Thanks Johnson, Susan and the rest of the crew.We had great time and would not hesitate recommending your place to our friends and families.

Room Tip: all the rooms are excellent, with a view of the lake!

Went here for lunch and there were no disappointments. I particularly loved the setting and the location, close to Lake Naivasha and the Hells Gate Park. After lunch, we took walks around and it was breathtaking. Spent the whole afternoon relaxing in the shades, listening to birds singing and gazing at the spectacular views of Lake Naivasha.
Staff were warm and friendly.
For quiet moments and motivation to bond with nature, this would be a great place. It carries a lot of history too.
Planning to visit again in the near future.

This is an interesting place for who wants to know more about George and Joy Adamson, and near to Hell's gate national Park, Crater Lake, etc. The situation is lovely, quiet, with a very nice garden where you take your afternoon coffee with cake and biscuits. You can take a boat ride right at the lodge to watch birds and hippos and enjoy the views of the surroundings of the lake.
The cottages are very simple and clean with comfortable beds. The food is also simply and tasty, the staff very nice and helpful.

We stayed at this unique location for two nights. The Lodge has a very special atmosphere and is full of objects and paintings of famous Joy Adamson. The cottage was a little spartan but clean and the bed was comfortable.
The park-like garden with its huge acacia trees overlooking Lake Naivasha makes up for a great scenery. Hippos grazing around the cottages are regular nightly visitors and it makes good sense to have a guard accompanying the guests to and back from the restaurant. The food is delicious and well presented.
Elsamere's Staff and Manager did their very best to make our stay pleasant.
The Lodge's location is perfect for Hell's Gate NP visits and boat safaris on the lake.
