The service was great, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our server was Wilson(I think, maybe Winston)- he was great
The hippos at night and animals roaming about during the day were wonderful. The colobus monkeys were so cute to watch
The room was spacious and clean but tired. The bathroom smelled musty, the material on the couch was worn and the flooring in the dining room needed refinishing

Room Tip: I enjoyed the ground floor room and the ability to walk straight outdoors.

My husband and I recently stayed 2 nights at Lake Naivasha. It has lovely, well taken care grounds, where an abundance of wildlife can be seen. Monkeys are all over the place and love to play and swing from roof to roof over the cottages. On our first night our security guard showed us three hippos behind our cottage. The next afternoon we saw several bucks grazing in the same area. Mature trees, bougainvillea and flowers everywhere!!!! Just beautiful.

The rooms, while not newly refurbished, were very spacious and comfortable. The only downside was that the windows could not be opened, at night, as they had no screens and it could get a little stuffy inside the room. We called our chamberman and he immediately brought us a standing fan. We also opted to leave the bathroom window half open.

The food was buffet style, delicious and plentiful, with many good choices. Reasonable prices for wine by the glass and beer.

The swimming pool, while beautiful and large, is in need of refurbishing, as we noticed many tiles missing. There is a small shop at the entrance of the lodge with souveniers and sundries.

Overall, the grounds are the highlight of the lodge and we had an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: If you can, get a room on the second floor. The balcony is spacious and you can sit with a glass of...

Nice location, spacious and well made up rooms, good bar, delicious food, prompt service all contributed to a memorable stay. Best experience was to spot hippos, giraffes, water buck etc right outside our room.

This place is ideally located, very near to the lake. You get to see the hippos and other animals in the evening from your window. The rooms are not great, though. The walls are very thin, you can hear everything and it was clean but not quite as clean as it should be ... The staff are very nice.

Very nice accommodation overlooking the well maintained gardens which have Waterbuck during the day, the odd Giraffe and Hippo at night time. A great way to watch game from your private veranda.
Birdlife around the gardens was also good, with Colobus monkeys also seen up close.
Food was excellent as was the service from the very friendly staff.

Room Tip: Preferable to stay in the upper rooms overlooking the gardens

We were there from 19th-21st october 2012. We arrived at 4.30 way past lunch time but the hotel was understanding enough to offer us lunch!!our best waiter was a guy called Wilson!! Very professional and friendly. The food was amazing unlike some of the reviews on this site. We chose the room at the 'Hippo Corner'' the last room in the hotel. Room no. 84 because we wanted to view the lake from our balcony and view the hippos migrating back to the water at 4.30 to 5 am in the Morning. It was a good choice of room and the hippo view was amazing but it's quite scary/adventurous going back to the room at night cos it's farthest from the dining area and the lawns on the way have many hippos..but the guards were with us to offer protection incase of anything!! All In all it was great room For adventure lovers. During the day we walked among giraffes, zebras, water-bucks, dik-diks...it was so real and wonderful. We also walked to the to the jetty and viewed the mangroves and the lake and saw hippos submerged in water !! After dinner we had a good time by the fire-place as we waited for our guards!! They also have a spectacular swimming pool and gym. We never saw the jacuzzi. One thing to note Is to carry warm clothing for the night cos it gets very cold but the days are sunny and nice and you can even sun-bath by the pool. We had the chance to view the motor race for vintage cars, happens only once a year at the Sopa . Spactacular!! Another thing we noted is there weren't many children so it's ideal for a romantic gate-away. We drove to the Enashipai lodge for drinks one evening and we also loved the place but it's more of a family place. So ideal place for families carryig children along. The lake view from Enashipai is more beautiful and You can see the crescent island from their shore. We also noted that Enashipai is brand new and has wonderful cottages ! But overall we loved our experience at the Sopa lodge and wouldn't trade it for any other place !!! Romantic, adventurous, clean, an Ideal get away from the city hustles!! Great service, great food, friendly professional staff!!!
