I really like that if i want to get food from the village, I can cook it in the banda or walk to the restaurant for a gin and some great local food from a very reasonable menu. People sell artwork next to the restaurant and it isn't junk. Local artists at very good prices. Too many day trips to mention but don't miss Crescent Island. You can take a small boat over and walk safely among giraffe and all types of antelope. Fish Eagles make a great show. I can't say enough. Only about an hour and half from nairobi. $50US for a taxi from the airport.

“Great food and friendly service.”
Reviewed November 28, 2011

Well known site for overland operators. Its a friendly site with bar and restaurant. They also have small lodges for hire if you don't want to pitch up with your tent. There are also lodges up the hill which have great views across the treetops to the lake.
Get a boat across to Crescent Island where you can go walking with the wildlife and either get the boat back or take a long walk across the island back to the main road and get a Matatu back, either way its a great day but take water as there is no where to buy it on the island..
