Simba has a friday night dinner that is open to the public. Amazing Indian food. Fresh Naan Bread. Clean tables/dishes.

Excellent! Cost 500 kes per person. Worth it!

Friday nights, starting at 9pm (late I know, but worth it), there is an Indian buffet held here. This is a favorite of ex-pats and NGO workers. Food is amazing and all you can eat, including dessert!

Don't get me wrong, this is no palace, it is open air eating near to the hockey pitch on Jomo Kenyatta Highway. It is not a private club; anyone can eat there. There are very few good eating establishments in Kisumu; only three I have personal knowledge of. Simba Club is probably the best value and has a varied menu of mainly Indian Food with all the accompanying rices and breads, cooked to the heat you prefer. You get a generous portion of fresh, tasty and free salad while you wait for your orders. The waiters are very friendly and will accommodate any reasonable food requests. Since I temporarily reside in the area, I usually order about three times what I can eat and take out the rest for later, which serves another couple of meals (about $15 for all). I particularly like the spicy mushroom starter, veg patties, Chicken Kadai and Chicken Tikka (though they give it a different name).

Visited this place in June with friends from overseas. We had heard of the Friday buffet which was available for £5.The dining area is a large hall plus they have bandas around the edges of the courtyard. The waiters are a friendly bunch and quite happy to help out with different dietary requirements. The buffet was a mixture of veg and non veg plus dessert of ice cream ,fruit and cake.Apparently this was buffet was an old custom and the current owners had to carry on this tradition. We came back the following day to try the a la carte which was mostly asian food with some western choices thrown in.The pork chops were superb as was the Tikka and other asian dishes we ordered. The bill came to under £30 or 3000 kshs for 3 of us.
Apparently the Simba Club has a hockey team that plays in the National League and were the leading team for decades,so watching a hockey match followed by dinner is the next plan. They have a seperate sports bar which looked under utilised when we popped our heads in.Maybe good to catch the rugby WC there.
