My experience started with booking. My online reservation was not registered and I had to make several calls; first to book; then to reconfirm the booking after depositing the funds in their account. The front office/ reception desk were however quite helpful. When we arrived, our initial rooms ( deluxe option) were a disaster. We were changed to an even worse situation; eventually we were moved a third time and this time, we got the rooms ( interconnecting rooms) that we wanted. Dinner on arrival night was a disaster; had they not redeemed themselves the following day, we were ready to forfeit payment and move hotels!! They seem to be concentrating on the Ocean Seven Apartments and are thus neglecting the hotel component. I have previously stayed there in 2011 and it was a superb place then. Pools are nice; beach private enough; no WIFI

The hotel reception was very homely,The Hotel is awesome very private beach very helpful staff dedicated to their jobs.I am however sad that the Resort is being brought down although the new Ocean Seven apartment idea is superb the Sun n Sand Hotel concept should not be scrapped off.A nice place to enjoy with kids nice and many swimming pools to choose from some with slides you can swim at the dinning area..just awesome relaxing ideas. The rooms are good with mini kitchen and mini bar ocean view deluxe was the best. However there was no WIFI they need to upgrade to digital.I also didn't like the idea of Outsiders coming in at a fee with food from outside.Again the salon equipments were out of order and the price extreme for simple hairdo.the management should work on such service provision. Otherwise i had a nice time the christmass programme was well planned and coordinated

Room Tip: Deluxx with ocean view have a very relaxing feeling ,you can here the water tides come back and fort...

Had it not be for the Resident Manager Mr. Daudi I would have given the hotel 1Star. He salvaged the situation after my online reservation wasn't registered.
Facilities are food were great and having an events programme was/is a big deal to me.
Apart from the reservation issue, the other major problem was tv. I love my rugby and wish they had better screens and channels.
All the best with the Ocean 7 project, that will be a game changer.

Room Tip: Please please please confirm your booking with a call or email. The online system isn't reliable...

Just like the phoenix, Sun n' Sand is rising again. I stayed there in early December 2013, not at full capacity, but staff did their best to make our stay comfortable. The current management has so many ideas, including the upcoming residential project, which will of course invigorate the whole area again. All the best, and hope to return to Sun n' Sand soon

Stayed here for 2 weeks in August.
Welcome drinks on arrival then luggage was sent to our room.
Our room was situated quite far from the reception but the resort is so big we had lots of things to do next to our room. We had a large pool with slide outside which was great. There is also a further 2 pools at the bottom of the resort with a really nice swim up bar.
Staff are polite and friendly.
Food is vairied and drinks are what you would expect. Local alcohol etc.
We ventured out of the hotel and even though we were warned not to. We were greeted by men with guns who were asking us to get them things out of the hotel like soap etc. We did actually become friends with them and

After a fantastic week on safari staying at the Shimba Hills, Voi and Ngulia Lodges, the Sun N Sands was a welcome 5-Star week of relaxation, to conclude our holiday. Both the food and the service was provided to an impeccable standard. The buildings of this boutique hotel were in excellent condition and the facilities met the expected standard. Ultimately, the time spent here was reviewed both faultlessly and favourably. They say never go back to a place you have been before, because your previous memories will be shattered. I stayed here in September 1991 and have never returned. It would be a real shame to discover that the Sun N Sands has become "run down," "tired" and awaiting "demolition." To me thankfully this is all heresay and my memories are intact.
