The location high on a hill offers good panoramas from the rooms, as well as the pool and outdoor areas. We were there in February, and there was haze most of the time, so the vaunted views and sunsets were not very clear, but still appreciated. Especially being able to sit outdoors in the vast pool area enjoying a drink while the sun sets. (A tip I followed from another TripAdvisor poster was to order the drinks at the indoor bar and take them outdoors. Cheaper and quicker than waiting at an outside table for service.) The small room was charming, decorated in the local style with bright colors and large-eyed angels watching over you. The view from our room was interrupted by laundry lines, but we could still see to the valley below. Our main complaint was that dinner took about 45 minutes to get. We hadn't yet learned to pre-order meals, but I would strongly recommend it if possible. Some people got wifi reception in their rooms, but we were apparently out of the zone and had to go to the lovely lobby to use wifi. Only minor issues. Probably the best run of the hotels we stayed at in our 3 weeks in Ethiopia.

nice property, with very outdated old rooms
some with specific smell and a lot of mosquitos.
i will be not considering this is a hotel
it feels like camping.
Grounds is nice with absolutely great view
and lovely and professional staff.

I'm sure this was a great hotel when it was built in the 60s but could do with some upgrading. It is currently the best available in Gondar and the setting on a hill above the city provides spectacular views. Room was very tired - glass in window broken and beds tiny. Restaurant was very average- dinner was set menu - no a la carte offered. Much awaited swimming pool was green so avoided. New hotel across the road opening later this year will give some much needed competition!

This hotel is located in highest point of Gondar with a fantastic view over the city.
Offer free transfer from and to airport wich is a great thing.
The breakfast was one of the poorest that I ever seen.

But everithing look great.
