We spent a night before and after our hiking trip to the Semien National Park. There are some good things about this hotel like the location and the view, the lobby has wifi, the outdoor patio is awesome and there is even a swimming pool. The location has so much potential and the staff made a big effort to be kind and helpful. The downside are the rooms, in particular the bathroom. The beds were actually clean and I thought comfortable enough. The bathroom is the problem....it is really tight, their was no hot water and if you did take a shower, the water was everywhere. In general I find developing countries really struggle with crafting bathrooms that work well. These were definitely problematic. The food was average, nothing special but they did have a pretty good wine list. I would love to see this place renovated as it really could be a special place.....

Room Tip: All rooms have a view and of the 4 we stayed in, I believe they are for the most part equal.

We traveled here for Timket and we were so pleasantly surprised! The staff was so nice and they even gave us shoes to go with our traditional dresses because we only had gym shoes with us at the time. They really went the extra mile to make sure you enjoyed your stay. The view was breathtaking! You get to look over all of Gondar. The pool looked very nice and clean, however we did not have time to enjoy it. Our rooms were clean and updated. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel location is superb, on a hill about 15mins walk from Gonder town centre and with a stunning view over the town and surrounding hills. The hotel has a lovely terrace with swimming pool, perfectly situated for enjoying the sunset.

However, that's about all the good stuff! The rooms are very old and dated and in need of renovation. We were given a twin instead of the double we booked, and had 2 small and fairly soft/uncomfy beds. The carpet is dingy and the decor tired. Bizarrely there is a wash basin in the bedroom instead of in the en suite. The bathroom is a little dirty and old, and at first we didn't have any running water but the management sorted this out quickly and afterwards we had powerful showers and hot water. There is wifi in the main restaurant area and 24 hour electricity.

The breakfast was ok - a la carte vs buffet. They tried to make us have the buffet for dinner but did serve a la carte when we requested it, but had no tables for us! We ate down in a drinks area round a fire, which could have been lovely but they didn't light the fire so it was freezing! The food was very average, my husband bravely ordered risotto and received a plate of rice! I stuck to spaghetti with tomato sauce which was fine. They do wine by the glass, which was a welcome break from beer.

Next time I would stay somewhere else and just come up for a drink to enjoy the sunset.

I stayed here with my family for one night. I was expecting basic accomodation, however I'm not sure if everyone else staying at this place will. The pool and reception area is nice and the rooms are simple, however, all three rooms my family occupied, the toilets weren't working and we had to use the shower nozzle to fill it up.....

Other than that, it was fine to stay for one night....

We arrived here on day11 of a 15 day tour. We were allocated a smoking room but with no difficulty at all we were given a non-smoking room. We welcomed the flat screen tv in our room. There were 3 clothes hangers fixed in the room. We always carry extra wire ones. Our room was quite near reception and for one night we would not have wanted it to be elsewhere. The suit case stand positioned at diferent levels could not support our cases. It should be repaired. We did not complain but simply rested them on the beds for repacking. Hot water was in plentiful supply both in the evening and in the morning. We needed our flask to be filled and this was done at the bar. We appreciated breakfast and dinner which met with our expectation. The location is awesome. The large patio offers great views of the town and surrounding area. It was great to see the setting sun and to take a selfie. One swimming pool was empty. Don't remember if there was more than one. We loved the souvenir shop and what was available. At the end of a long day, we were happy to settle in and look forward to an early morning start next day.

We were looked after in this hotel by staff with a smile, the food in the restaurant was good and I do believe it was the only place where there were no complaints in the restaurant.
However we again did not have hot water for most of our group and a solution was not forthcoming.
The rooms are dated but ok for where it is I do agree that once the new hotel is finished group tours will move, A pity with a bit of tlc this place could be easily sorted and become more comfortable. Start with the bathrooms!
Only wifi in the lobby.

The exquisite scenery is really the only outstanding quality of this establishment. The gorgeous vista that spreads below the railed terrace is the envy of all other hotels in the area. However, the rest is average to subpar. It must be said that the service is friendly and warm and the staff make you feel welcome. The food though is aggressively average yet the dining establishment is arranged well. The rooms are where this logding falls short. Poorly maintained and in need of repair/renovation, they surprise the patron being so menial compared to the atmosphere presented at the reception. Overall, go for the view, stay for a drink, and perhaps seek better lodging elsewhere.
