Sedia Riverside Hotel

Reception friendly although the pick up at the airport was a bit confusing.

The room (Riverside room) was not completely ready when we arrived.
The AC in the room did not work. And now after one hour running for 17 degrees the temperature has only reached 25 degrees, the same as outside. Later on it gave some cooling effect.
The room is small, dark but there is a lovely secluded place on the outside. This is the first time I have to use my torch to find the right things in the suitcase because the lighting in the room are too poor.
The swimming pool is green! What bout the chorine level/pH and the possibility of contamination with eg. Hep A?

The service at lunch and dinner was excellent and personal. But the dilapidated state was more pronounced since all the lamps with burnt out bulb became very visible.

At 2130 at night the phone is ringing in the room and we are getting a question when we need to be dropped at the airport tomorrow. (We are having one more night booked and confirmed).

Next morning (Sunday) we wanted a late breakfast. Arriving at the breakfast room we were told: You are too late for breakfast! Nothing like: Sorry, you are a bit late, but we can.... But after being a bit loud they agreed we could have a breakfast. And when it came it was delicious and well served.

But then the WC stopped draining. But after reporting to reception it was immediately mended.

The best thing, however is the bed. Kingsized and with an excellent mattress and 10 pillows. Hurrah!

This is an area w/mosquitoes-but the opening under the door was just symbolically repaired and left 2-3 cm open space under the total width of the door.

We are a family of 4, 2 adults with 2 teeange daughters and have just returned home from a self drive holiday in Southern Africa.
We had the most wonderful time at Sedia. We stayed in a 2 bedroom chalet for 4 nights, the 5th night we went on the most amazing overnight safari with Julius and Sammy(Afrotrek). The chalet was spacious, very neat and tidy, comfy beds. Ok, a few spiders here and there, 'oh, that's right we're in Africa!' No problems with the hot water, and as I mentioned, 2 teenage daughters, put it to the test! Breakfast was lovely, too lovely in fact, yep, we ate way too much. The restaurant has a great range of food, we enjoyed all of our meals. The bar was well stocked, we had a lovely time drinking cocktails and other beverages relaxing in the beer garden/restaurant alongside the pool. Our daughters made good use of the pool. They were very happy - wifi!!!! The staff at Sedia are just wonderful, they are helpful, happy, polite, very kind and extremley welcoming. We were busy each day, flying over the delta, mokoro trip on the delta and as I mentioned a one night two day safari into Moremi organised through Afrotrek. For our family Sedia was perfect, we loved it, loved Maun, we loved Botswana. Thanks Alan, it was a pleasure meeting you, and please thank your lovely staff, we will be back!

Huge bed and a nice hot bath. Good breakfast. Nice friendly staff and a large garden for camping and nice to sit under the fig tree and watching birds. Not far from the airport..only 30 pula by taxi. Not flashy more old style ..looks good for kids to withspace to run, pool and jungle gym.

This place was a big disappointment--we stayed 2 nights. The rooms were dated and need modernizing and the bathroom was small with virtually no place to set anything. More than anything, this place just had the feel of a hotel going downhill quickly. However, the staff were helpful and attentive. The food was very marginal and the morning breakfast had almost nothing that we could eat. The swimming pool looked like green slim. It was like bug-central around the pool and even in the rooms. We would recommend staying in town...there are some new hotels that offer much better options.

Room Tip: The camp ground seemed nice if you are into camping, but the whole facility is at the edge of a slow...

What a gorgeous oasis in maun. The staff are lovely, and i was fortunate in getting on two last minute tours through afro trek on premises which is open late. Tour guide, sammy, a true local with lots of stories. The hotel pool is a wonderful refuge after a day out, the beds are comfortable, and the trip was topped off with a free airport transfer with the owner. Excellent all round.

Room Tip: Room 15 managed to get the free wifi.

We stayed for one night at Sedia and regretted it. We had to change rooms because the first one had an extremly bad smell. The second one was better. Nevertheless, we had many bugs in our room, there is no fly sreen - during night they walk in as they want. We did not have warm water as well. Light did not work in the bathroom.

We stayed here for a good few nights as we needed a break. The ablutions are OK although the hot water was limited. The pool and bar was nice with free Wi-Fi. Its also pretty good value at BWP50 pppn. One of the spots for camping was quite smelly for a reason we cannot understand. We moved pitch. The power points are spread around but their locations are far and wide. If you have a long power cable this will be no problem. Spots on the riverbank become busy but these come with the insects also. Reception staff are helpful and the hotel seemed well run with the manegement listening to guest requests. They may have even extened the Wi-Fi into the campsite by the time you arrive. I have no problem in recommending this venue even though i've only given it an average rating. The average rating is mainly due to limited hot water in the showers so pick your time for washing.

Room Tip: Flat spots near the river come with insects. Power spots are sometimes remote.
