I'll start with the standout positive on this place - the outlook is utterly beautiful, with a long white sandy beach out the back of the hotel. We saw manta rays and turtles around the bridge area; the whole place is really quite breathtaking.

I've been all over New Caledonia over several trips and love the place, however the food is generally quite ordinary. In this regard, Hotel Paradis is out of the ordinary; without a doubt the worst food I've ever eaten in a hotel. The best meal of the day was breakfast, where I could have a bowl of cereal with long life milk or a day old baguette with jam and butter... Everything else was terrible; until this trip I had no idea that it was possible to botch up the preparation of French fries!

I had to chuckle at the Pina Colada; 1 part pineapple juice, 1 part coconut milk and 2 parts rum.

Staff were okay, if a little surly, the room was large and clean and tidy as you'd expect. There were a few small issues around the place; the hot water stopped functioning for our room several times, the bathrooms smelt as though the pipes were a little backed up and the place in general has a slightly worn out feel about it. I hope the other feedback about renovations is for real!

These guys are the only game in town, and it's bloody obvious too.

The hotel is apparently scheduled to undergo a big (overdue?) renovation in the next few months. The rooms will have Wi-fi and TV. We only used the restaurant and were not impressed by the staff. First they did not even want to seat us because we had not reserved. We insisted since there were few people in the restaurant so they very reluctantly let us eat. No smile, no check ups to see if we were fine, no thank you at the end, not a single nice word out of their mouth... The menu is extensive, it was good but not fantastic. However the scenery is breath taking, the hotel is built right by the beautiful sandy beach, shaded by coconut trees and the restaurant is all open, with a veranda, cooled by the breeze. There are few options on Ouvea, Hotel Paradis is the only real hotel, the management is well aware of that. The islanders have decided they will not allow another hotel to be built. The alternative is tribal lodgings and they are very Spartan, some of the owners are not motivated to be nice to tourists, although Charly at Gite Moague was very friendly.

We spent 4 nights and it is true that is probabily one of the best hotels in the Loyality Island.
Bungalows are very spacious and confortable. Unique bathroom with amazing bathtub in the floor.
The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly.
I agree that the Continental breakfast included in the room rate is very basic.
We had dinner in the restaurant only the first night. The terrace is very nice but food is not really good. We had the appetizer that was nothing special (for what you paid) and then had to wait more than one hour to get the main corse and sincerly speaking my salmon was really bed tasting.
We discoverd Snack Fassy, a beautiful place where we had wonderful lunches and dinners every day. Maria Goretti and Felicie really take care of us and we really loved this place so much.
You only need a torch to reach Snack Fassy by foot when is dark because without that you cannot see anything....beside beautiful stars above your head!

I have been to Ouvea 10 years ago and stayed at Paradis D'Ouvea. I still remember the wonderful location and the beautiful rooms. The sea was incredibly beautiful. At the time, there were no dive centers on the island, but I guess diving here would be a great experience.
I agree with everyone mentioning this to be a expensive hotel. still it was an amazing place to be.

This definitely Ouvea’s best accommodation, possibly the best in the Loyalty Islands. Yes, it is a bit on the expensive side, however we don’t regret paying a bit extra to stay here. The setting is truly marvelous and our stay here remains one of my best memories of the islands.

The location couldn’t be much better, on a narrow strip of land sandwiched between the spectacular 25km long white sand beach on one side and the tranquil Lekine lagoon on the other side. Really a magical spot for both sunrise and sunset. It is about 20 minutes drive from the airport and about 10-15 minutes from the main town area. To really explore the island, you’ll need a car or scooter, and these can be arranged for you by the hotel staff. The hotel also rents out decent mountain bikes (US$20/day) which will get you around the southern part of the island no problem.

The room was a free standing bungalow, large and airy inside, and very smartly furnished and decorated. The king size bed was really comfortable and we got some very restful sleeping done. The amenities included AC, small fridge, and hot water jug. The bathroom was also nice, very roomy with a sunken bathtub and an awesome hot shower. The place was spotlessly clean and there was a daily cleaning and linen service. The veranda, overlooking the beach, has a couple of very comfy loungers to relax in.

The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, assisting us as needed, organizing bike rentals, car rentals, transfers, etc. A continental buffet breakfast was included in the room price and it was fairly basic but very good – lots of fruit and juice, bread, croissants, cereals, etc. The best part of breakfast was eating it in the open air beachfront restaurant as the sun rose.

We don’t really have too many complaints – except the price. At US$180/night, I don’t think it represents the best of value. Also the restaurant was very expensive, as was the minibar. Rather than subjecting ourselves to the inflated hotel prices, we just walked 100m down the road to Snack Fassy where we got tasty chicken, rice, and salad dinners for about US$6 – quite a bargain. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers to Ouvea and would very happily stay here again.
