We had the beach to ourselves, which was amazing. The children swam, built sand castles and explored. The only other things we saw were the cows wandering home. It is hard to imagine a cruise ship of people on this beach-let's hope they ars not allowed to spoil such a Magnificat beach

“A lovely spot”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We hired a car & drove there, cost $1000Vt when you drive in. We were fortunate to be the only people there for the duration of our visit, with the exception of some cows down the mountain just as we were leaving. A beautiful place to visit.

“ok but”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

Yes its are nice beach with warm water, soft sand but have seen much better elsewhere. For us Port Orly was much nicer only a few km north. The big turn was was all the cow droppings, 100's of them and smelly :( There is a charge to enter the beach and unless you go when there are 2,000 people from a cruise ship there with you, the public toilet will be locked!
Lonnoc beach is good and also has the fresh water bubbling up through the sand together with a nice cafe.

“The most beautiful beach in the World”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

The powder white sand, the blue blue water in many shades of blue. You will be stepping into a postcard and if there is no cruise ship in you will be the only person on the beach. This is Tahiti before the tourists discovered it!!!

“Even the local cattle drink the water on this tropical beach - but why?”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

It's fed by a natural freshwater spring on the right hand side, and cattle go there at low tide to drink the fresh water.

The beach is beautiful, with a natural blue colour from the spring. It's quite amazing, but will probably be spoiled by all the cruise ship passengers who come ashore. Luckily for us it was deserted when we visited.

Apparently was visited by the US officers based on Santo in WW11 and they broke open Champagne when the war ended, hence the name - that's the story a local villager told me!

The village chief is must be making a fortune from all the cruise ship passengers and visitors, with the entrance fee he charges - very smart!. P&O have even built modern toilet facilities there now.

If you are in Santo, make sure you go when there's no cruise ship moored out near Elephant Island.
