“Safe, patient, and wonderful setup.”

Reviewed February 13, 2012

I was worried in the beginning, as I have a little delay on clearing my ears. Jim, our instructor was very calm and patient, and helped me through it. The little garden where the deco stop happens is wonderful, not like with many dives, where you spent the time hanging on a rope.
The USS Coolidge is a great wreck, so steeped in history, and so fascinating. Million dollar point is also an intriguing dive, quite surreal.

On reading the reviews of aquamarine, I'm really glad we chose these guys, professionals, well kept equipment, all safety questions addressed clearly, and just a general feeling of safety while in the water.
Before leaving Vanuatu, we dived with another company, off port Vila. Unprofessional, they didn't care about my ears not clearing, and tried to push me to dive. In the end, I surfaced early (and alone), and sat in the boat.
Allan Powers guys were a dream to dive with.

We spent few days in Santo. The first goal was diving for discovering this huge SS President Coolidge ! There is an handful of diving shops in Santo. All of them applies similar tariffs . First, we've met the boss of " Allan Power Dive". My husband appreciated his way of being and decided diving with them after checking their equipment. He had 3 dives with them and all of them were professional with good quality equipment. Reliable place then ! And SS President Coolidge is really amazing !!!!!

One night around the end of August whilst still at work at 7pm, i though, buggar it im going diving for a week alone "somewhere"

I rang my trusted agency "Dive Adventures Sydney {ask for Hiedi}" and within a few days i was all set for Espiritu Santo with Allan Power for 9 dives across 7 days, i had no idea what i was in for.

I have read all the reviews on Aqua Marine, but i have not dived with them so I wont add, but I can say, that even if all i received for my hard earned was the lenghty discussions at Allans house, and the invaulable experiance one can learn from talking to these guys, then that would have been enough, now onto the diving!!!

The Coolidge is an exceptional dive site, the best of everything really. Close to the shore, super easy entry and exit, Allan Powers land where you gear up couldnt be more perfect.

This was my second wreck dive, but I now wouldnt call the first one a wreck dive at all. With Allan power you get a detailed brief on the history of the ship, and a huge range of info on the wreck, and a detailed plan of each dive before you kit up. Everything is thought of in advance, including multiple full tanks of air at all the required places for dives >40m. The guides/instructors are local and excellent, ask for Henry of Alfred, they are experianced and will deal with anything that can occur during these sorts of dives, Getting narced at 60m was interesting, but Henry had me all sorted :).

Im guessing you could only really get the ultimate history and fantastic discussions regarding this wreck if you dive with Allan, his book "which i purchased and made him sign" is an excellent read. this holiday turned out to be a whole lot more than 9 dives through a pile of metal, it was a look back in time to the 40's when the boat sank, it was talking to the man himself that spent years diving and salvaging the boat, and coming back with a real peice of history that wont leave me anytime soon.

To show how good this experiance was for me, im goig back in two years.

PS, Make sure you take your log books, Allan has cool stamps of the coolidge for your pages.

PPS, The deco stop is the place to stay in Luganville
