Wow! Eye-popping! Crystal clear sapphire blue waters! You can see the fish metres below, as if they were swimming on the surface! The water makes for a refreshing swim. We took snorkels and masks and were not disappointed. The Matavulu blue hole is huge and fringed by tropical rainforest. Beautiful but do take mozzie spray for time out of the water. To find this blue hole cross the Matavulu river, turn left at the sign to Matavulu college and follow the road, keeping left. stop before the cattle grid and look right. You will see a bush track. Go down the track turn left at the end and this road takes you to the blue hole. Our SUV car managed well. To find Nanda blue hole, go north on the Santo East coast road, past Turtle cove turnoff and look for the painted blue hole signs on the left. Look right, across the road and drive down the track to a well set up place. The villagers greet you with a coconut drink and papaya and you can swim or slip down a slide into the blue. All for a small fee. You can do organised tours of blue holes but we had fun, freedom and flexibility, self touring.
