Undecided Review Nov’2011
• Cost of taxi from airport to Puataukanave Hotel $70 Paanga oneway
• Room prices varies from checked in to checked out
• Room services was not helpful (no one care to asked to help carry your luggage/s to your room
• Room was clean but white ants everywhere, dust everywhere will need daily room services
• It cost $5Paanga if you missed place the face towel, and will cost more for the body towel
• If you get overcharged and the refund will never happened or the boss was not around to authorised the refund
• Sometimes transfer to airport arrived before your refund get authorised and told, will give you discount when you return next time.
• No specific direction of conditions of using the bar fridge contents
• This Hotel had potential need new management, staffs needs customer service training and room maintenance is a must all year round.
• Pest control will help to get rid of un welcome visitors (ants etc)
• Re consider prices as in Vavau was only 10% of Hotel room occupied (esp) group bookings.
This is real life experience and hope we all learn from it, but you had to go for yourself and make your own decisions base on what you see!! regardless the best locations, best view and convinience for every travellers this hotel need improvement/s.

Room Tip: New Wing all room are ok, air con help better sleep at night.

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in!! Our room had ants crawling everywhere - even on the bed. The soap they provided looked like somebody else's leftover soap and they had wrapped it in cling wrap. The tap to our sink was nearly falling off when we arrived. We lost our key to our room and they wanted to charge us $50. Our bathroom then flooded because the hose on the loose tap finally gave way. According to people in our group that stayed there last time, the same room flooded last year because of the same hose!! They moved us to another room. The shower leaked. Toilet roll holder came off. Handle to drawer came off. No light bulb in side table lamp and then whole lamp shade came off. Swimming pool was not full and hasn't been for the last few years. When we complained about the cost of a spare key and mentioned the inconvenience of having to move rooms they told us there was nothing wrong with the tap when we moved in. Even though the same room flooded last year from the same hose they hadn't bothered to fix properly!!! I dont think they understand the meaning and need for maintenance!!!

We only stayed one night, as we wanted to watch the rugby in town. Good location. The room was okay, the shower sprayed everywhere. Staff were ambivalent, and conveniently didn't get back to me about complimentary pick up from the airport. But it served it's purpose. Would I stay there again? No.

1st Part Solo -
1. "Yes" it is located right in town.
2. On arrival, the staff was nonchalant and they could not locate my reservation.
3. I ended up in a economy room plus aircon over looking the "pool" which is not filled. Rumor has it that they cannot afford the maintaince of the pool.
4. The lock to the balcony door was broken.
5. The room was filthy and the soap provided was a cut up piece wrap in glad wrap.
6. Itch the whole night.
7.Never seen any guest eating at the Lobster House.
Conclusion - Lucky I only paid for 1 night. Left the next day for Vava'u Guest House. Rented a faley. Old, no aircorn but clean. 15 minutes walk from town up the hill. Taxi from town T$5.

2nd Part Group -
After joining the group, I was upgraded to the Waterfront Deluxe as my tour leader was told of my concerns. The rooms were:
1. They made an effort to clean the room.
2. Shower was only a trickle. Had to use my friends room in the new wing. After a few days, the shower seems to be working better.
3. Was given a complete soap.

Conclusion.
Do your homework. For what you pay in Tonga, you get better value else where. No joke.

Room Tip: Ask for the new wing but I would not go back.

We stayed here for a few days as part of our Tonga trip. It was very clean, and located right in the midde of town. The cleaning lady is a sweetheart! It's also located close to the Mermaid Bar, so it's never too hard to stagger back to bed at the end of the night haha.

Stayed at Pua's for our Tonga trip and had a fantastic time. We were lucky enough to be there in humpback whale season. We did a day trip with dolphin pacific diving who are licensed to let people actually swim with the whales! the visibility was amazing and these creatures were so beautiful! Make sure you go to mermaid bar on friday because they have yacht races and the boat owners are more than happy to take on extra crew for the races. we dont know anything about sailing but still had a great time. mermaid bar is also a good place to drink. Don't bother with the local 'nightclub' as some of the local boys are a bit too forward (lol!)

When we arrived we were tired and didnt know the area. Wanted a place to stay for the week on our honeymoon. We were not allowed to see the rooms until we had booked for the night because the the staff would not contact the manager to open the room without money paid. Backpackers was covered in cockroaches and spiders everynight. We had to pay extra each day we wanted to use the pool. Laundry was the most expensive on the island. Shower head broke off after first use.
