We stayed in a lovely, self-contained fale (the treehouse) just off the beach for three nights. You can eat in your fale, at the restaurant nearby or have an early evening BBQ watching the whales go by whilst drinking a Maka. Save your last one for the sunset though which is likely to be stunning.

We had a great time in Tonga and much of this was thanks to the Blue Banana. We stayed in the Beach fale literally steps to the beach. The lagoon is great for snorkelling and kayaking (both activities can be done with equipment at Blue Banana) and the bikes were great for us to explore the surrounding villages, blowholes and beaches.

Vei, the resort's driver kindly picked us up and took us to town for provisions and he also drove us other places as needed. Blue Banana is 40 mins from town by car, 1 hr by bus and by bike. The resort can organise tours to islands (we recommend Fafa) dinners and cultural activities plus airport transfers and island tours.

Chris was a wonderful host, conscious of our needs and helpful with our arrangements. Would have loved to have met Shane!

A week in Tonga felt like a month. This was just the panacea needed for a hectic life. Overall Tonga ia best suited to people who enjoy simple pleasures and lots of time to reflect and relax.

Room Tip: If you really need wifi don't choose the beach fale as it's a little patchy there. The beach...

We arrived to a big, smiling Tongan taxi driver, Kei, who is a wealth of local knowledge. The Blue Banana is about 35minutes from the "city", and Kei drove us into it to get our provisions for the week. Note that you can take a taxi as needed into town, but it is slow-going. Also, any imported snack food and liquor is SUPER expensive in Tonga, so you may want to bring some of your own.

Chris (Shane was away) greeted us and showed us around. There are three fales, and they are literally steps from the beach and the view of the whales (we were lucky :) swimming by.

Our fale was small, but comfortable and clean and a bit "beach funky" - if you're looking for mod with updated appliances, this is not for you. Our bathroom was located in another building behind our fale, a bit of a hassle even though we were aware of the arrangement.

We loved the fresh fish platter Chris offered a couple of nights - really amazing mahi-mahi and tuna. The bowl of fresh shredded coconut to enjoy was also a real treat.
There are bikes and kayaks available for hire, and we explored the local village and the blowholes on bikes. We were even stopped by a local and invited in for tea. The Tongan people are so kind and always say "hi" and "bye."
The best part of the Blue Banana is that you are really away from it all- even though there is internet service available- it's a great place to sit back, sip a glass of wine and watch the sun set

The Blue Banana has a wonderful location and the accommodation is good with everything you could want.

Taxi was there when we arrived, the tree house was clean and tidy and they had arranged a single bed for my son. Whales popped up every so often and the view in general was spectacular. Would highly recommend.

We had the most relaxing and enjoyable time imaginable at Chris and Shane's Blue Banana. It was the perfect place to unwind with a gorgeous beach, cute fale (with great kitchen), set in a beautiful and well kept garden, and with fantastic hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for Chris and Shane who provide a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Their platters were delicious and we would return in a heartbeat.

Whou! Can really highly recommend this place. Beautiful setting, simple but very clean and well catered Fales, absolutely astonishing dinners (especially the tuna steak) and last but definitely not least the most amazing hosts. We felt really welcomed to this small place and were truly well looked after. Tonga is such a nice place and this is by far the best hideaway on the island.

Room Tip: Any of the three seems to be just as good

Chris and Shane are such wonderful hosts and their place is awesome! If you want much of a nightlife, don't go there. But if you enjoy perfect sunsets on a private deck just some meters from the beach this is the place for you!

It begins with a very charming pick up at the airport by taxi driver Vei, a very charming local who enjoys to talk to you. Stop in town to shop for groceries at the local market, the bakery and the supermarket! Once at Blue Bananas you will feel like home right away: The bungalows are ultimately clean and well stocked with all the kitchen utensils you might need and the artistic decoration gives them an extra nice touch! Their setting in a tropical garden directly on a perfect beach can't be beat!

To opt for the great fish platter (just 25 Pa'anga more than enough for two) is a great idea and it is easy to cook on the gas BBQ right after the sunset drink. Your hosts are wonderful people, listen to them for some local stories or a even a bit of polynesian archeology!

Room Tip: Any bungalow is great. If you don't want to leave the hut at night for the restroom, go for the...
