“All ok, must meet Herve”

We stayed for 4 days and we also went for a 2 days trip along Rio Javari. Don't expect great comfort but the hostal had everything to give you a pleasant stay, air fans, mosquito nets at the windows, etc. The trip on rio javari was beautiful and definitely worth the whole staying in Leticia. The owner of the hostel, Herve, is a great traveller, I invite you to check his website: hervepuravida.com

the lovely jugo de guanabana they prepare in the hostal is worth a mention

We've stayed 3 nights - had booked private room with shared bathroom, but we were put into one with private bathroom at no additional cost instead. Room was fairly clean (bit of ants on the wall, but that's to be expected in amazonia) with little standing fan. Bathroom was ok too, although shower is just pipe sticking out and the toilet didn't flush properly. We were lucky to be there during very low mosquitos season so we had no troubles sleeping at night (no nets on beds), but I imagine they might be an issue as there're no screens in windows. At the same time, they say that mosquitoes don't come to Leticia as it's too hot, so maybe that's why...

The service was really nice though. They have a list of activities that they can book for you and really do an extra mile to help you. Note that you can book tours until 7pm (which is cool if you fly in at 5pm and don't want to get stuck next day doing nothing). Spanish is essential though as noone there speaks english. Oh and they provide tall rubber boots for jungle trekking which is great help.

While in Leticia, don't forget to go to the Santander park (2 blocks away) at 5pm and watch the thousands of parrots fly in :)

Room Tip: Room #1 is the best as it has windows to the street.

Was there for a night while my friend and I went to Leticia. The room had no AC but this is a hostel so we did not expect anything but a bed but to our surprise we had our own bathroom. No hot water but that is ok since its so hot. The beds were clean enough to sleep on and the staff was very nice. During the night we were able to hang out with everyone and talk about our travels in the common area, have a few beers, and try out some "local" green powder stuff (very interesting stuff).

This was my first hostel experience and it was a lot more fun than I had expected.

None of the plug sockets in our room worked. All of the electricity was via an extension lead that was coming in through the window. The window itself looked directly out to the reception area, but was not completely covered by the curtain, so privacy was a little lacking. The room itself was large and fairly clean.
The bathroom was just outside the bedroom and was a little cramped. There was also very little in the way of hot water.
The hotel also has a tour agency. Some of the tours seemed quite reasonable if you are after one of the more commercial style tours. They were not able to offer any tours into the deeper jungle (though that’s fine if the jungle is not your thing!) The tours were very reasonably priced compared with the operators in town.
Breakfast was not included, but for COP6,000, the complete breakfast was excellent. Definitely worth a try if you stay.
Wifi is available in the reception area. It was fairly fast, but liable to cut out at the slightest hint of rain (which happens a lot in Leticia). The hotel is also prone to power cuts.
