Loved loved loved this tour! possibly the best we've been on. Oscar Roger is by far one of the best tour guides we've ever had. He knew everything about Bolivia and more and was eager to learn more too.

He is an excellent photographer and our salt flat photos are phenomenal. Definitely recommend red planet and in particular Oscar.

Accommodation and food were of a good standard. We did a private tour and stayed in hotels which were lovely.

Bolivia is a must visit!

After reading quite a few disappointing reviews about tour operators in this area we felt that it would a challenge to book a tour to our liking.
Speaking to a fellow traveler on the way to Uyuni we decided to go with Red Planet on a 3day/2night tour. Wise decision!
We had a marvelous experience, and the schedule was exactly as described by the staff. Our guide Gonzalez was a very friendly character, and made the trip that extra bit interesting with his scientific and highly precise remarks about the area.
Accommodation and food were of a good standard. The 2nd night accommodation was spent at an hostel which had hot springs at its doorstep! Cherry on top of the cake!!! At night despite being 5ºC, the water must have been at about 35ºC and the whole group went for a dip and drinks under an amazing starlit sky!
Highly recommended.

After reading many reviews of tour operators in Salar de Uyuni, we opted to go for Red Planet, by far a more expensive option but one which we thought would afford us a higher level of service. How wrong could we be? From the beginning, there were many problems. No one turned up to meet us at the bus stop on arrival from La Paz. We had booked with Red Planet to guarantee the services of an English-speaking guide. When we got to the office we were told that there were 2 jeeps in our party and the guide would be in only one of them. Thus we drove for hours without a guide and just the driver who barely spoke a word (and what he did say was entirely in Spanish). we had been reassured that the guide would be at every stop to fill us on all the information, but in many cases when we arrived at the stop, he had already left with the other jeep. The accommodation on the tour was basic which is to be expected in such a remote part of the world. However, our major complaint (which was shared by the broader group) was the provision of food. To say the offering was spartan would be a gross understatement. One bottle of wine shared between 12 passengers is not what you expect from a premium tour operator.

Finally, the tour itself. The Salar de Uyuni is an amazing and unique place and the first day of our tour was incredible. However the following two days consisted of driving huge distances with relatively little to see (and as previously mentioned, very little information or guidance from our tour leader). If I was to book again, I would strongly consider opting for a 1 or 2 day tour as the third "day" of the tour starts at 8am and finishes at 9:30am. From speaking with other travellers, it appears that they booked with other tour operators for a near identical tour (including the same accommodation, food etc) for around half that price that Red Planet charges.

Me and my boyfriend went with RED PLANET to Uyuni salt dessert. It was an anamazing trip. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. We had such a good tourgroup and Oscar was the guide. We saw Uyuni, we saw vulcanoes... also visit a vulcanocrater... We saw different kind of animals f.x a chincilla and a lot of flamingos.
The hotels we stayed in was not fancy but they were clean and a lovely atmosphere.

This is one of my first reviews on trip advisor, but had such a great time with Red Planet tours and Obed our guide, that I thought I should right a review. On April 7th I started on a 3 day tour that took us thru the Salt Flats on Day one which was amazing, especially the photos. On day 2 we went through the Atacama desert and ended up going as high a 5,000 meter above sea level, and end up at a nice hot springs. On day 3 it is more of the desert and some rock climbing on the way back to Uyuni. Obed and red planet made sure that all us had a good time (Obed speaks english) and food was great and hostel where what u should expect from the country your in. My suggest is to have some altitude and plenty of warm clothes and a good camera cause there is plenty to see. Enjoy your trip with red planet.

Jason
