This was a nice welcoming hotel (just opposite the army barracks) after two nights of cold and basic dormitory accommodation while crossing the Uyuni salt flats in a 4x4. The hotel has a well deserved reputation for its Pizzas, which is one of the reasons for staying here. You queue up to order your meal, grab a drink and pay at the counter, where you are given a laminated playing card. Then, an excellent pizza with plenty of toppings arrives shortly after.

If arriving after crossing the Sala de Uyuni (salt flats), then this may be your first hotel in Bolivia, so it was surprising that the hotel didn’t offer money exchange, but there were plenty of ATMs in the town nearby.

Our rooms were in an annex at the back of the hotel. There were no lifts, so we had to drag our cases up two flights of stairs to the first floor. The room was clean and spacious, and better than we were expecting for a hotel in a frontier town in Bolivia. If coming to Uyuni, I would definitely recommend staying (and eating) at this hotel.

I have been in this hotel for more than 10 times with groups. Even if the hotel was full, the restaurant was too crowded to sit, the owners Cris and Sussy tried to give everybody a great pizza, spend some time to share some experiences and attend everybody.
One of the nicest tiny hotels in Bolivia and a real recommendation after doing the magic Southwest Uyuni Circuit.

I selected this property based on a satisfactory previous stay in 2004 and on the fact that decent hotels with free breakfast and free WiFi are not common in UYUNI unlike backpackers’ dormitories.

Beside the fact that the hotel now offers brand new rooms in a new wing nothing has changed since 2004 and the basic standards accommodations remains in line with the price paid : EUR30 or US$38 for 2 people in a twin room including buffet breakfast, WiFi internet access, hot shower and heating.
However, the room we occupied was far from being impeccable regarding cleanliness with worn dated sheets and uninviting filth on the shower’s curtains. See pictures.

Both check-in and check-out were performed by a Spanish only speaking and barely polite teenager. Payments can only be made cash.

Please note that breakfasts are taken at the adjoining over rated and debatable Minute Man restaurant. We had to move a couple of time during breakfast time to flee away from the horrible fried fish smell that was cooked in the meantime, ruining our meal. Moreover, watch up for the cleanliness of the cutlery and the plates. Incomplete washing leaves some greasy remaining food on some of them : YAK !

We stayed at the Tonito Hotel for a few days after I had an accident at the train cemetery in Uyuni. The accident caused me to stay in hospital for a few days and Tonito Hotel and Minute Pizza was the perfect place to recover! The owners, Chris and Susie were amazing and so accommodating to our special requests. They helped my partner a huge amount with local advice and booking us flights on the military plane to continue our travels. They also went out of their way to assist with medical needs and dropped us at the airport. They really made us feel welcome and looked after and I have no idea what we would have done without them!! Their great restaurant toped it all off - the best pizza youll find in Sth America and possibly in the world! Our friends also raved about the desert and breakfast which we never needed to try as the pizzas were so filling. I cant rate this hotel/restaurant highly enough and you know you will be well looked after very well in the amazing hospitality Chris and Suzie offer. A must see!!

This hotel is a real treat in the middle of nowhere. Wifi, the best breakfast in Bolivia and garage for our car is a plus. The attention to detail is unsurpassed in it´s price range. Really, Bolivia is very economical and this hotel is right in our budget.
