Tonito Hotel is definitely the No.1 place to stay in Uyuni, hands down.. Friendly and helpful owners, heating, and hot water.. but best of all is the Pizza restaurant.. who would a thought that such a place would exist in this far flung corner of Bolivia.! : )

I'm a hotelschool graduate and travel the world quite a bit. Over the last years I have seen many countries and hotels from the smallest guest houses to the most luxerious hotels. And I have to say Tonito Hotel has been great! Sure, it's no 5 star hotel, but what do you expect in a remote location like Uyuni! Just take a moment to think, realise where you are at that moment, and Tonito Hotel suddenly seems like heaven. It provides more than decent accomodation but the real bonus is the restaurant! Excellent pizza's, great breakfast, friendly hosts and good service. It's the ideal place to charge your batteries after a 4WD off road expedition or when just visiting the 'Salar'.

This place is amazing : in the middle of nowhere in Bolivia, at 4000 masl, you must spend at least 2 nights there. You can book a tour to go on the Salar the Uyuni, the salt flat, plus visiting the train-cemetery and how they make the salt from this "lake".
And when you go back no worries about hot-shower as they've got solar panels, so there's hot water 24hours a day, also you have free wi-fi and is quite a surprise, as everywhere else in town internet connection is slow and most of the time not available.
And as a cherry on the cake, the owners, Sussy and Chris, have a restaurant-pizzeria inside the hotel and, believe an italian from Naples, you'll find the best pizza in South America and one of the best pastas......
So if you're planning a trip to the Salar the Uyuni, I strongly advise you to make a booking over there as the place get always busy as is very popular among travellers...

I loved to be in Tonito Hotel. We had real fun... We had some cold nights, but the warmth from the "fire place " and the kindness of the staff was super. The starry nights made it complete. The pizzas ...??? HUGE and delicious. Nice people

As a tourleader I travel with groups of tourists throughout South-America and every trip we make a stop in Uyuni as well. I always stay in this hotel with the groups and every trip i just can't wait to arrive here. The owners are the most amazing persons I know and they make everyone feel like at home. The service is incredible: if you need something, just ask and they'll help you in every way possible! Transfers, tours, doctors visit... you name it and they can help you out. And if you like pizza, you should definitely eat one at Minuteman Pizza, the restaurant within the hotel. I can assure you it's the best you'll ever eat, but also the desserts and the breakfast are amazing.
I can advise everyone going to Uyuni to stay at Tonito Hotel. If you like good service, nice atmosphere and delicious food, this is the place to be!

This hotel was an oasis in the desert, especially the attached restaurant! Minuteman Pizza is outstanding. But it's not just pizza. They also serve buffet breakfast, which is amazing. Fresh granola, home-baked bread, and terrific, fresh-roasted coffee. After a long day out in the Salar de Uyuni, the pizzas and beer hit the spot. Start with a couple apps, like the nachos or the garlic bread.

The hotel rooms are very cozy, and are kept neat by a courteous staff. Hot showers are not a given in this part of Bolivia, but they are a welcome reality at Tonito.

The hotel service was great. The owners are very people-oriented, and make you feel right at home. There is no request that they won't do their best to help you with. You'll make friends for life.

I would recommend this place in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Pay a little more for the more comfortable rooms in the back.
