Maybe compared to the rest of Tupiza's accommodation, this place is a gem, but we just didn't see it.
The good: room and bathroom were clean, with towels provided. Hot water was reliable. Breakfast was ok. Wifi sort of worked (typical Bolivia-slow).
The bad: the toilet's smell was so rank, that we could barely spend any time in the bathroom. Not sure what was worse, the urinal cake odor or the water. They say it's a communal kitchen, but when you use it before their strange breakfast time of 8:30 (salt flat tours all leave at 8am), the workers aren't very happy with you and hustle you out. It's also pretty far from town (10-15 minute walk) and there seems to be plenty of other cheap accommodation closer to the center.

The rooms are cleaned and decent for the price. The location is not super central but tupiza is small anyway. However I found the service was pretty poor. We arrived in late morning and they were not very helpful in getting the room ready (usually check in is 2pm). We had to leave early for a tour in the morning: no flexibility on breakfast time, which starts at 8.30, quite late when most tourists leave for tours before 8am.

We had a great experience in this hostel and an amazing time on the 4 day Salar trip organized through them. Everyone was really nice at the hostel, the Hostel was clean and comfortable, and the guides on our trip were incredible.

Also, another note about the tour, we ran into other groups who had issues with their guides and cars (ones that wouldn't start, etc.). We were so thankful that we went with Los Salares!! They are definitely the group to go with if you want to so a tour from Tupiza.

All in all, a great place to stay in Tupiza!

We were ther one month ago. The hostel is really new, clean and the rooms/bathroom are very clean (also fast internet, an showers with hot water). Theyalso offer a good breakfast (coffee, tea, bread, fruits, cheese and ham), witch is included. The owners are very friendly and helpful. To the town (center) it takes you by foot only max. 10 min, to the terminal about 5.
We booked there a five day trip to de salar d. u. Our driver David and the cooker Marivel were also wonderful. He drove really safe, explayned everything an Marviel was an excelent cooker. In sum, our stay and tour there was excelent.

Hostel - Cheap double room ensuite, clean, great hot shower, warm comfy clean bed. Poor breakfast, stale white bread, cheese and ham. Nice location, Max 10 min walk to town centre. Beautiful backdrop of red cliffs. Good WiFi considering it's rural Bolivia.

Tour -we booked at the hostel. 4 days 3 nights, 3 passengers, 1 driver named Serendino and 1 cook. 5 in total in Jeep. Anymore would have been squashed and uncomfortable. The number we had was perfect. The driver was a gentleman, a safe driver, took meticulous care of the vehicle and his passengers. Every night he asked us how our day was, did we enjoy it, did we feel OK with the altitude, did we have any questions, he told us the plan for the next day, etc. I can't say enough positive things about the man. Our cook was great too, meals were delicious, except breakfast which was stale bread, eggs or cereal would be better. All other meals were awesome, especially lasagne and wine on the last night!! Snacks and water were included. Coke/fanta was given at lunch too. We left early every morning, meaning we beat the crowds to the nice spots and also got to our accommodation before everyone else in the evenings. We paid 1350 bols each for the tour, money well spent. Great memories.

We enjoyed our stay here: owners were friendly, breakfast was fine, hostel was clean and wifi was good. We came here because we had heard the tour was worth it, and worth paying a little more for, and it defintely was.

We ended up as three van loads and 12 people, so it was a great commeraderie. We paid an additional 100 b each for the English-speaking guide and it was a great decision on our part. Carla was amazing, so friendly, funny, informative and a super amazing cook. We ate very VERY well on this tour. The tour was excellent: we saw everything that was promised, with flexibility to decide at a couple fo different points the pace we wanted to set. We had totally adequate accommodation each night, with plenty of comfort and blankets and a final night in the hostel made of salt. There were only 4 per van (unlike the 6 we hear are stuffed into vans in Uyuni), so we weren't squashed or uncomfortable. As sais, we were well fed. This is kinda a once in a lifetime type of experience, so it was definitely worth paying a little more for, to make it a memorable one. The salt flats are breathtaking, but the tour is so much more than that. A real Sth America highlight for us.

One of the best hostals we stayed at in Bolivia from a cleanliness and spaciousness perspective. Also great views from balcony and only 5-10mins out of centre walking.

They charged us 50% extra for taking the washing into town - so may wish to do this yourself.
