we stayed three nights at the Mitru Anexo ( not the main Mitru hotel that has the swimmingpool ) and were very satisfied. the hotel is central , well Tupiza is a can-walk town , clean , quiet , the rooms are spacey and well appointed , and breakfast-buffet is served in a central lounge area, eggs included. The house keeper is a friendly and knowledgeable person who can give advice for the tourist.
the Hotel is run by Tupiza Tours , who run tours to the surroundings as well as to the top scenic places such as Laguna Colorada and the Salar de Uyuni. Very warmly recommended as well , and a much better option than starting a tour in Uyuni which is a place to avoid.
the only downside on Tupiza is that the restaurant scene is drab. all are "Italian" , and have the same menu. None seem to be interested to provide food that is different , which is perhaps also due to the clientele who seems to be happy with pizza and hamburger , around the clock and wherever on this lonely planet.
