“Very good hotel in Cafayate”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

This hotel is a great option for travelers coming by car or by bus. Located a few steps from the main plaza, this is a very comfortable, clean, welcoming place to call home for a week or two. Our room faced a courtyard, and overlooked the church on the plaza; church bells greeted us morning and evening. The pool area is large and well-maintained, with shaded lounges for those who need them, and plenty of sun for everyone else. The computer in the lobby is available to check email back home and print boarding passes. The breakfast is excellent, with plenty of fruits, juices, nuts, breads, coffee or lattes to keep you going until late afternoon.

Great location, really good price-value. The rooms are absolutely new, well mantained and the service is so friendly.. very good! Also, the breakfast was very varied. I highly recommend this hotel. The wooden floors, quite comfortable bathrooms.. excellent!

Room Tip: Its very easy to get a good room, no wonder. But, as a tip, always insist to get a superior room in...

Stayed here for one night. Great location right in the centre of town. Well appointed spacious lobby feels very airy with plenty of comfortable seating. Large rooms with TV and mini bar. Clean and comfortable. A very good choice if you are staying in Cafayate

Location is good - very close to main plaza, right on main road through town. Backed onto a winery. Had friends that stayed in other hotels in town, and we did not share their complaints about noisiness - perhaps it was because our room faced the back of the hotel and away from the main road??
Had private parking lot, and although this filled up at night, we were never blocked in when we needed to get out in the morning. Perhaps our timing was just good, not sure.
Breakfast was adequate with fresh fruit and juices and drinkable and regular yogurt, a variety of cold cereals and a variety of breads, biscuits and jams, and some cake and dried fruits and coffee and tea.
No coffee maker in the room, and no takeout cups to bring coffee back to the room from the breakfast area.
There appeared to be a spa on the premises but when we asked about their services, they said the spa was closed and had been for some time.
There is a fitness room on location with a couple of treadmills, bikes, and weight machines, all of which looked to be of good quality. There also is a small courtyard with patio furniture for the use of guests.
In the pool area, we discovered a building that appeared to be a restaurant with reasonable prices and relatively nice decor. We did not use it though, as we found this out late in our stay and had dinners already booked/planned.
Front desk service was helpful when we needed a corkscrew.
Efficient check in and check out. No surprises with billings/costs.
Pool was large with many areas to sit, chairs to sit in, and grass to lay on. Towels were provided at the front desk for the pool. Pool was relatively clean on the bottom, but the stairs were very slippery as were parts of the ladder and sides of the pool had dirt/algae growing on them - it appeared that these areas were not cleaned regularly or properly. There was a shallow children's pool also with the same cleanliness issues. Neither pool was heated and likely only about 75 degrees when we were there.
Room was great - spacious with windows that opened, airy and very clean. Shower head needed replacement in my opinion, as it did not spray out evenly. No issues with water pressure or temperature. Bath salts, soaps, shampoo and conditioner were provided. No facecloths though. There was an in-room safe that was large enough for a laptop. Bed was comfortable to me, although my husband thought it a little on the firm side. Lots of closet space.
Internet worked good in main lobby, but was very slow in room, and non-existent in the pool area.
Would likely stay here again.

After a long road trip from Salta, we found this hotel to be perfect for our needs. Half a block from the central square it offered nice and clean rooms with a very generous floor area, facing the inner courtyard. Nice breakfast buffet and attentive service completed the enjoyable stay. If in Cafayate again for wine tasting I would stay there again!

After a beautiful drive from Salta, Cafayate is a great small place to unwind and chill for a few days for some good food and wine -
We stayed at the Asturias Hotel, just off the main square. Spotlessly clean, great garden and pool, and outside terrace. Friendly staff and good breakfast buffet.
The room was spotless, and very comfortable!
Everything is in walking distance, bike rental, restaurants etc.
Would definitely recommend staying here!

I have stayed at the Asturias many, many times. It gets a solid "C" in my book in terms of value, cleanliness and amenities. They could do miles better in staff friendliness as stated in earlier reviews. There are better choices and values in Cafayate (and staff that are really friendly) so look around. I only stay at the Asturias because the project I work for puts me up there, otherwise, I'd stay elsewhere. ;)

Room Tip: Ask for some of the rooms on the third and fourth floor toward the back of the building. They will...
