This hotel is located in the middle of nowhere. The road in is poorly marked and your car can get stuck or bottom out on the "road" to the hotel. Once there you will find a charming-if quirky little hotel. When we were there the pool was full of frogs and tree algae. The rooms are plain but clean. There is an unmistakable odor of mold in some of the units.
The manager is named Wayne. He. Is a nice young man from Alabama. He just returned from two tours in Afghanistan. He made every effort to accommodate us for which we were grateful.
Would I return? Probably not but the stay was memorable and I would not have miss the experience.

The hotel is located only two (2) kilometers outside of Cafayate. The city and certain specific buildings (such as the Cathedral's two towers, which is situated on the plaza) is easily visible from the hotel's front porch at any time of the day (the towers of the Cathedral are lit at night). It is a thirty minute brisk walk to the town's plaza, or an easy forty five minute walk. It takes about ten minutes to drive to the center of town, perhaps as much as fifteen, from the hotel.

I apologize sincerely about the road. Originally it was not nearly as bad (though it was not great) as it was when you arrived. You arrived not very long after it had rained and the road, being a dirt road, was eroded and damaged. I am aware this is a problem and, shortly after you left, I went and talked with a construction company in town about putting gravel in the road. Unfortunately there is no gravel, at least not the quanitity that is needed, in Cafayate until about March. The first of February I will go back and talk with the construction company about this. Thank you very much for bringing this up this issue. (UPDATE 29JAN2013: The construction company is unable or unwilling to work on the road for me, I have thus employed a worker to improve the road; it is now much better than it used to be. Photos will be uploaded in the near future.)

For those who are not aware there are two roads to the hotel, one is much longer and a little better. The one that is currently marked is the much shorter one and it is not the best of the two roads. (UPDATE 29JAN2013: It's now probably as good as the longer one, but much shorter.) I will be working to mark the other road to the hotel for those that would prefer to take that route instead. (UPDATE 29JAN2013: The road has been marked with signs for those that end up wanting to use the longer road to the hotel.)

I am very sorry about the condition of the pool upon your arrival. It is currently shut down because of a filtration problem. It will be operational again sometime in the future but I don't know exactly when. (UPDATE 29JAN2013: The pool is operational, using river water and chemicals (chlorine and clarificante) and soon I will be purchasing a water pump and pool sweeper to maintain its cleanliness.)

Before you had arrived I had not noticed, nor had any guests pointed out to me, the smell of the mold. I've been working on correcting that after you pointd it out to me. I've applied bleech to the walls where I think the smell was coming from and will be painting over the affected areas in the rooms soon. I apologize for this oversight, I and, apparently, a good many guests at the hotel had not noticed (or perhaps they just didn't bother mentioning it).

Thank you very much for the kind personal endorsement of me! I actually have returned from two deployments to Iraq, not Afghanistan, though. I was quite fortunate to not get sent to Afghanistan. But thank you very, very much for your endorsement of me. :-)

I look forward very much to your possible return in the future. I hope that when you return the issues that you've brought up will have been corrected satisfactorily! Thank you for mentioning them, too, as it allows us to better improve the hotel and to better inform future guests of the condition of the hotel. Thank you very much for your comment!

This is an atmospheric hotel, picking up on a ranch style them. Views out over Cafayate from the porch are lovely. The owners son, Wayne, is looking after the joint and he is a great guy who goes out of his way to assist with advice and problem solving. Rooms are large with terra-cotta tiles on the floor and clean, large bathrooms. There is no AC, but it is not needed. Wifi is not an option, but there is a house computer you can borrow. Internet is slow  though. Breakfasts are simple but nice, with really fresh pastries, juice and coffee/tea. The place is dead quiet, but herein lies the problem . It is a very solid 30 min walk into town (ie the main plaza). Reviewers who claim otherwise must run! We are fit and like walking, but even power walking left us with a 30 min stroll. At night you really have to get a taxi back because the track back to the hotel is all over the place! Stay here if you like splendid isolation, stay in town if you want proximity to shops etc. It is a great option if you have a hire car.

Firstly, to find yourself in Cafayate, Salta, Argentina is a wonderful thing. And to be in Hotel Paris-Texas while staying there, is icing on the cake. The small hotel is tucked away just 15 minutes walk away from the town, it's a bit of an adventure getting there if you're driving but it's so well worth the trip. It's wonderfully peaceful and you're treated to waking up to the sight of mountains in the morning and sparkling stars at night. There aren't many rooms which makes it even better, the rooms are immaculate, with a little glass roof above where you can lie at night and admire the stars. One of the owners, Wayne from La Verne, Alabama was a great host, he was friendly and accommodating and helpful with whatever information he had despite only being in Cafayate for a couple of months. I also loved the resident cats! Couples that need some respite from the chaos of travel and big cities, I highly recommend this hotel to you. It's the perfect place to just be away from it all and do nothing.

This place is great... don't let any initial concerns about distance from the Cafayate township worry you. It is a pleasant 20 minute walk, or a cheap 20 peso taxi away and the fact the hotel is slightly out of town adds to the atmosphere. Extremely peaceful, friendly staff, great facilities, a beautiful location and good value for money. I would highly recommend Paris Texas to anyone looking at staying in Cafayate. Worth checking out directions to get there before arriving, the information office in the town weren't overly helpful.

I would recommend this great new hotel for people staying in Cafayate. My gf, 6 month old son and I stayed for only one night, but, we were impressed at the quality of the hotel, the friendliness of the staff, and spacious rooms.
We especially liked the breakfast served, with very fresh juice and pastried serves, along with great coffee.
Definately, definately come check out this hotel, two thumbs up for sure!
Also, the views with the am sun are really lovely!

Just stayed at the Paris Texas Hotel and can't say enough good things, extremely clean and nice rooms with a tremendous view. This is a secluded little hotel that keeps to that feel. Just what I was looking for and can't wait to return. You do need a vehicle to get there and don't get worried along the long drive the payoff is worth it.
