I was GRANDPAcking through N.W.Argentina and stopped in Cafayate for a few nights.
I paid A$550 for a 5 hour trip up Route 68 through the Quebrada De Las Conchas.
There were 4 of us on the trip so they took us in a car. With more, you go in a van. We had a Spanish Speaking guide as our driver.
You stop at all of the sites and end 47kms up Route 68 at La Garganta del Diablo.
I will let the photos speak for themselves …
It is a ‘must do’ trip at this price.

Thank GRANDPAcking

Like my tittle reads, this is amazing. It really makes you feel as a human being, that we are not thankful enough to mother nature and how all of these beautiful mountains have evolved over millions of years. This is a must drive on your way to wine country.

We started from Salta just past noon and took a lot of stops. When you enter the Quebrada - a different world starts. The last 50 km are the best and make sure that you have 3 hours - as you will want to stop to take pictures all the time :-). Amazing creation of nature - that deserves it's time to be passed. The road is great and a fairly easy ride.

One of Noroeste jewels, an absolute must do - at the beginning or end of the day with softer lights on the mountains. An incredible experience.
Do not think it is "another quebrada", one of the numerous in the Noroeste. This one really deserve a dedicated stop in your trip. And ideally not a one day trip from Salta : I'd definitely recommend to spend the night in Cafayate to enjoy the nice walk in the quebrada.
An asbolute must do in the area!

The scenery was spectacular. The geoforms throughout the valley are so amazing and beautiful. We made every suggested stops along the route and took way too many pictures. Highly recommend.

If you are in the Salta region of northwest Argentina the drive to Cafayate through the UNESCO World Heritage listed Quebrada del Rio de las Conchas is unmissable. Breathtakingly beautiful. Unforgettable.

we visited the Cafajate region as part of our Circuito Andenes. This canyon (quebrada) is beautiful with various , dramatic rock formations. The afternoon sunset painted it in soft and very nice variations of the original rock colors.
A nice and not difficult walk through the place. very enjoyable 1-1.5 hr.

Your tour will be incomplete if you don’t drive through here while visiting Salta province. The landscapes are captivating. I’m glad we had a tour guide to drive us so we could both enjoy the vistas unfolding before us!

One thing you have got to do is take a drive along here, absolutely no doubt about it. At each corner, at each turn, the views just get more breath-taking than the one you may just have passed. Loads of places to stop and take a walk, take it all in and just GAZE out there. Beautiful. I would give it a full day so you can really stop and take a hike or something.

This Quebrada is absolutely beautiful. Very similar to some places in Utah or Arizona but with its own characteristics. Everybody talks about Humahuaca but I think this one is even more beautiful.
