We had the greatest time at the ranch!
Accommodations were great- cabin was nice and clean. The porch has a handy goat gate to keep the silly goats from invading! Pool and hot tub were clean and beautiful with an amazing view of the canyon. The food. I mean, the food was so good I wanted to weep. Stephen the chef was too young to be so talented! Tons of food, and you need the extra calories to support the active schedule.
The schedule of morning and afternoon activities (and occasional evening fun) is easily supplemented for your kids with a movie theater, basketball court and climbing wall indoors, plus pool table, ping pong and foozball inside.
Let’s talk riding. You can ride twice a day if you like, and they never take you on the same trail twice. The horses are super docile (except when a vicious horsefly attacks them) and easy to ride with no incident. The wranglers and other staff are so personable and will tell stories and make you feel like family.
You can also do rock climbing twice a day if you like. Adventure courses (part climbing, part caving, part ropes course with platform jumps and zip) are great. Plus shooting, a canoe trip, river swim, and an easy hike to a cool cave.
By the last full day we were exhausted but so happy. My recommendation is that you be prepared to be worn...We had the greatest time at the ranch!

By the last full day we were exhausted but so happy. My recommendation is that you be prepared to be worn out if you do the full schedule and that you’ll need a very minimal level of fitness - which the web site warns you about. The Canyon in the ranch’s name is a real canyon and so everything is on a hill which we consider a feature rather than a bug. Zip lines and cliffs to climb require getting up high and there are very short hikes up stairs and rocks and hills to some of the events, even some of the cabins are located up a hill. If you come with an attitude of adventure and trying new things, the wonderful staff will help you with everything and make your experience successful and fun and your kids will feel like super heroes. But it’s not a resort - outdoor activities require, well, some activity. My 14 year old son was super skeptical at the beginning of this nontraditional vacation but by the end was asking if we’d be back next year and wanting to buy a cowboy hat. Extra kudos to activity director Jason who was an inspirational outdoor guru!More
