My two granddaughters, 12 and 15, and I had a spectacular time at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. During our week, families, single parents with children, grandparents with grandchildren were present, and the age range of the kids was roughly 4 - 18. By the end of the week, we were all in a love-fest of goodbyes and promises to stay in touch. My kids declared this the best vacation ever, and each year, we do something different. We've done beach trips, swimming with the Manatees, cruise, vacation rental, but this was THE best. Horseback riding, cliff climbing, zip-lining, boulder maneuvering, tightrope walking, screamer swinging, tomahawk throwing, bow-and-arrow shooting, pistol shooting, critter hunting-- all in one packed week. We had two cookouts and the rest, family style meals in the lodge. Our cabin was rustic and comfortable and we loved the front porch. (The stairs are a bit treacherous, so be careful.) But the best of the best here is the ambience, all made perfect by the owners and the staff. This place turns over a crowd every week, but you don't "feel" that way. You feel special, like you're the most important person on the ranch, and staff do everything possible to make your stay perfect. They encourage you to go beyond your comfort zone, they're watchful and protective, they are kind and funny, they even discipline when necessary. We would go back in a heartbeat.
