If you're looking for a peaceful, quiet escape from the city with no distractions, this is the cabin for you! The view is breathtaking, along with the calming sounds of nature that captivate you the moment you open your door. Note: Your GPS will not take you all the way there, Kenny's directions are cruitial! Be prepared to drive down unpaved roads to get to the cabin, and don't expect to have service.
Ken met us at the cabin upon arrival, such a nice area and perfect if you want total seclusion! Cabin is set up for a spectacular sunrise with plenty of wildlife entertainment. He showed us around the area in his utv on and even showed us the way around in his pickup. The last morning he took us out to breakfast at a restaurant overlooking the Ozark mountains and was the perfect ending to the stay. Cabin is very clean and well furnished. Don’t hesitate to stay here you won’t regret it! The picture shows the view from the deck.
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights for an "empty nester" getaway after dropping our daughter off at college. The cabin was a perfect spot - completely private, comfortable and well-appointed, fabulous view, great porch, and tons of nature to enjoy. It was low season (late August) for the river because of low water, so the area was very uncrowded. We enjoyed some of the hikes in the park, but mostly loved hanging out. Kenny was a great host - very friendly, responsive and accommodating. He even offered to show us around, though we declined. Would love to come back. Just be forewarned that Newton county is dry, so purchase your libations before coming. That said, nearby Jasper is a neat little town with friendly locals and good options for dining, crafts and grocery shopping.
Husband and I found a few days off to visit the Buffalo River area. We took a chance on LoneElk Cabins, and couldn't have been more pleased. Our cabin (Foxcroft) is secluded at the end of an easily accessible rural road, however we could jump in the car and find restaurants, museums, river access, scenic views, etc. in just a matter of minutes. Kenny is a very available host, and it shows in how well kept his properties are. We would definitely stay at LoneElk Cabins again.
This was our first stay at Lone Elk “Foxcroft” cabin. The cabin is secluded off the main highway, nestled in the forest with a beautiful Mountain View. near the Hasty Put-in. Thecabin is new and very clean. The cabin has extremely nice furnishings and is stocked well with towels, linens, kitchen utensils and just about anything you need for your stay. All the appliances, including washer and dryer are new. The front porch and rap around deck are ideal for relaxing and looking at the awesome view. Kenny greeted us at the cabin and was extremely helpful in planning our stay in the area. We would not hesitate to stay at Foxcroft if we return to the area and neither should you.
This was our second stay at the Foxcroft cabin and it was just as awesome as the first time. The cabin is cozy, well equipped, and feels completly isolated even though its just a few minutes from town. The recent rains have created lots of beautiful waterfalls. The owner Kenny and his wife took us to see the ones on the property only a few minutes walk from the cabin. The drive out to Falling Water Falls and the short hike to Horsetail Falls and Fuzzybutt Falls (yes, that's the name) is well worth it. The Wildlife Education Center has information for all the local attractions and the staff are very helpful. We'll definitely be coming back next year.
The cabin was more than we could have hoped for. It was very private yet beautifully decorated on the inside. It was a short drive to the Buffalo River and to many hiking trails and amazing finds on restaurants. We spent 3 nights and it was not near enough to take in all the local sites. We cannot wait to go back in the fall for more hiking and scenery! Our host Kenny felt more like an old friend or part of the family and made us feel very welcome. What a wonderful way to spend our 20th wedding anniversary! Thank you Kenny!
