We visited the English wine centre for lunch. It was on a busy day, we did take the last table and we were warned there would be a delay. We were not worried as we had the weekend papers to read, so sat back and relaxed.....15 minutes later we had not even been asked if we would like something to drink - this is a wine centre after all! Some 30 minutes later, the menus were grabbed off our table; we still had not ordered. Some 10 minutes later, the waiter asked us what we had ordered for dessert! We explained very nicely and politely that we had not had any order taken so far. At that point the owner suddenly leapt in, loudly telling us he could do without customers like us and to leave! The people on the next door table were as equally dumbfounded as us.
Maybe he was stressed as the restaurant had been so busy that day; but whatever the reason, his wish will come true as we certainly will not be offering our custom in the future.
