Visited as part of Thomas Cook day package in Sept 2012. Only spent coulpe of hours in village (including 30 minutes in Palace Dar Nejma Ezzahra). We arrived around midday and the town is very busy with lots of tourists. There are lots of shops and the minute you stop to look into a shop the owners will try and get you in. The town is itself is very nice & clean. The Palace is stunning with some great views on the roof. Be careful as this doesnt really cater for disabled. The streets are very busy as well. Tried to walk down to beach but never had enough time.

Visit of this Palace will give you a clear idea of life behind the white walls and blue shades. Amazing labyrinth of stairs and corridors within the house, excellent mint tea (included with a entrance ticket of 3TD). It is interesting that part of the house is still used by the family, while the other part is open for tourists. If you go to Sidi Bou Said, you have to visit this Palace!

My family and I visited this village and it is beautiful, it is very picturesque, you will find many shops to buy souvenirs, and walk. It's better if you go with a guide.

First of all this is not a site for those with walking difficulties as there are a lot of steps down to the entrance and inside as well up to the terraces. There are a lot of men outside here that will offer help and advice, stay clear they are only after money,

It’s a very busy place and you have to run the gauntlet of stalls and very persistent owners trying to sell you all sorts, just remember you have to leave by the same route to get out and go through all of it again.

Once through you can admire the beauty of the blue and white houses, but it’s not friendly for those with walking difficulties. The architecture is amazing and is set off by the blue and white colour scheme. There is a typical Tunisian House laid out to only what you can call a museum of life in a bygone age, take your time walking through as it’s a one way system, there was no restriction on taking photos. There were some restrictions on where you could go but not many. On the way out up onto the roof to admire the view around.

Well worth a visit.

No interior photographs generally allowed but our guide later relented.
