As basic as it can get.
Feels like you're back in the 70's with the wooden interior.
TV in my room didn't work, but I was too sleepy to call up the reception.
Don't think they got any international channels anyway.
At least the wifi in the lobby area is quite speedy.

... but it is neglected pearl, beautiful showcase how to ruin your inheritance. Of course, everyone should be aware of conditions in Madagascar, but again... pity.

Rooms are very simple, all parts of them are crying for some repairs. And even in such condition, it would be better when they would clean them better.

Worst thing is that there is no much better accommodation in Antsirabe.

The Hotel des Thermes is a wonderful place for a leisurely few days, but you should not choose it expecting real luxury of modern comfort. The place has a sense of history and glamour, but it is well past its peak; yet the faded grandeur is part of its attraction. The rooms are large and comfortable (they can sleep a family with two kids) and have large, wonderful balconies. Everything in the rooms works, but nothing is new. I found the hotel overall well maintained and clean, but the age shows forcefully in the bathrooms where the tiling and fixtures are in need of replacement. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant offers good food (some dishes are great, others only average), a decent selection of local wines, and a steady supply of cold beer. The grounds and exterior of the hotel are a major attraction and I saw several wedding parties comes for the photo shots there.
I would highly recommend the hotel to travelers who appreciate the style of a faded grand hotel but advice those seeking modern convenience to stay elsewhere.

The hotel is very old, but lovely. I think it just needs to be cleaned better, because in case of complete renovation it may loose its charm.

Stayed a couple of times but would not return unless there was no other hotel available. They have tried to rejuvenate this very old hotel but making new covers for beds, chairs and curtains. The price does not reflect the standard. There is no wi-fi only an old computer in the lobby for internet. Breakfast is an additional cost. The staff are so polite and friendly and the best part of the hotel.

We have been in Antsirabe for two days and we were looking for a good hotel. I was suggested to go the hotel des Thermes. As soon as I arrive I had the impression of an excellent hotel with its magnificent colonial architecture, beautiful park, swimming pool. Once I was in the scenario totally changed. The first thing shocking you is the light. Terrible neon lights everywhere. Darkness prevails (atmosphere of a terror movie). We took a suite as double rooms were not available. Two sockets per room, few of them working and definitely dangerous (unprotected electric wires). Old fashioned furniture of bad quality. I took a cold as the windows of the room were likely of the same age of the building..... No wifi, just a very slow internet spot. Costs: definitely high and out of market for Madagascar standards. I paid bycredit card and I was charged of a fee with no advance advice.
If you are looking for a confortable hotel don't be taken in by apparences, go elsewhere!!

This old colonial-style hotel which gave refuge to King Hassen II from Morocco for a long time, is not really good value for money, but if you want to feel like being in the 1950s again, this is the place.

Spent only one night and will definately not spend any more nights there, but for that one night we had great fun. We did the colonial-experience: played a game of tennis in the afternoon, had planter's cocktails on the terrace, dined with frog legs (cryptically called cuisses de nymphe) , played a game of pool in the bar and then retired to our chambers.

We had a good laugh cause the hotel has plenty of funny things: the 'do not wear shoes in the swimming pool' sign, and the ash-trays in the toilet could not go unnoticed.

The next morning we wanted to take a dip in the pool but the water was rather green so we decided to drive back to Tana...
