“Perfect location for the parks”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

Perfectly located for the Andasibe park - and a 45 minute (very bumpy) drive from the wilder Mantadia entrance - this is a fine base for visiting both. We were certainly close enough to hear the eerie calls of the Indri from the hotel!

Our room (close to the main reception) was huge, with a good bed and a separate raised bathroom and toilet area. The shower, although modern, was a bit disappointing. The grounds are very pleasant, with flowers, a lake and a pool area (though it was too cloudy to swim when we were there in September).

The restaurant has a fairly extensive menu, which was good hotel quality.

Whilst staying we visited both local parks and went on night walks along the local roads with a guide - and saw an impressive array of wildlife, as well as the interesting rainforest scenery of the area. Well worth a visit.

We tried to get into Vakono Lodge, but visited for morning tea. Smoking would be huge issue for us and our guide had to translate our orders into French. Also damp feeling.

Andisabe had taken care of our special requests with huge bed and special spa bath with hand shower, great for honeymooners! Sheets, whole room smoke free.

Couldn't get safe key out and unfortunately lights in bathroom didn't work, so they substituted quickly and next day it was fixed

If there is a faulting room equipment the guests should notify the manager, they don't know unless told. Please members do this, as others follow.

Our guide for night found mouse lemur, dragonflies sleeping geckos looking like park and brown lemur.

Guide in main park was fabulous, we saw a family of Indris with baby in arms and frolicking. We saw sifcars? And more lemurs

We then went to Mantindaba park which was a couple of hours and road full of potholes and I mean huge! Think my back and neck went out and in several times, fortunately it was right way when we came back! We again saw more creatures but had to go the easy walk as I was so exhausted. Too much in one day.

Good nights sleep and Lemur Island, this is a major highlight for us! Wearing lemurs as scarfs and hats and two extra pony tails for me. All different lemurs and tiny bamboo one so cute. Ring tails, brown, black and white, waiting for banana, jumping and climbing on you such fun and our guide was the best, so kind and helpful. Loved the canoe trip around the island

Yes I know, some think it is sad to see them on island but they have been rescued and wouldn't make it in the other tribes in wild, so be happy for well cared for animals.

This hotel is run by the Malagasy and we enjoyed the restaurant service and head staff was there for our every wish. Great service! Some food was a little strong for our tummys, but that is us.

Do go these wonderful parks, don't miss out and we went with Cactus tours with Haja and driver. Will report on them later.

An amazing situation near the village of Andasibe and only a few minutes drive from the entrance to the park. We had a night walk with chameleons and some hard to spot mouse lemurs.

We woke to the strange cries of the Indri Indri lemurs in the nearby forest that was shrouded in a spectacular mist with the sun breaking through. Breakfast and Dinner were included and were acceptable but nothing to write home about. The staff were very kind and considerate and helpful.

The walk in Andasibe National Park was great. We saw lots of calling Indri Indri jumping from tree to tree, a sleepy woolly lemur and a strange and weird Giraffe-necked weevil.

The rooms are very, very well appointed. The shower amazing. We enjoyed our two nights here...the perfect place to relax and feel pampered in/around hiking in the forest (which is spectacular).

The food was very good and they accommodated my vegetarian leanings. Chocolate croissants at breakfast are not to be missed.

Really lovely spot.

Spent one night here whilst visiting the National Park. Great spacious, clean rooms with nice shower. For a family of four, our room had a king sized bed, and two single beds in a separate room. Rather cool and wet in August, but there were blankets in the wardrobe, which we needed. Our room had electrical problems in the evening, which the staff rushed to tell us as we made our way back, and we had to move. The porters were at hand with torches and it was dealt with quickly. Service generally was polite and efficient, and the food was generally of a decent standard. The hotel is in a nice rural setting, the restaurant has attractive outside seating overlooking a pond, and there is a nice looking swimming pool, all of which you could take advantage of at another time of year.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. The location is very convenient to Andasibe National Park. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom and shower are lovely, the service is wonderful, and the choice of dishes on the menu is great- with a full vegetarian menu. The road leading to the hotel is difficult to navigate in the rainy season (and it rains a lot in this area!) but the hotel is well worth the extra effort. Tatiana, our waitress, was delightful- she saw to our every request. The family room is very good value with a separate room for the children.

On a very short trip to Madagascar I stayed at Andasibe Hotel. Loved the location and the room was amazing. Really, really spacious. Furnishings lovely and bathroom area great. It was nice to see the toilet separated from the the shower and even the basin was in its own area. The gardens and outside space were also lovely. The food was good and service not to be faulted.
