Little Mombo was our first stop on our first visit to Africa. Accommodations are lovely. Staff is welcoming and so helpful. Game drives nod guides were extraordinary. No internet was a relief from the hectic work we live in. It was an extraordinary experience!

My husband and I stayed at Little Mombo, which has only 3 rooms and is attached to the larger camp Mombo by a boardwalk. This was our second Wilderness Safari camp and like Kings Pool and later Vumbura Plains another amazing location and camp. The staff was welcoming, warm and friendly and we liked the fact that it was small and intimate. The accommodations beautiful and very comfortable and the food absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared and served. We had an amazing guide, Cisco incredibly, smart and great to travel with. We saw so many great sights and animals and each day provided us with experiences we will never forget. We highly recommend this camp to all interested in a great safari experience. We would only want to stay at Wilderness safari properties because they have the perfect formula and perfect camps for those interested in a wonderful safari.

Room tip: Only three rooms and all are very beautiful and comfortable.

Dear Arlene,

Thank you for your wonderful review, we are delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us and our other camps that you stayed at. We will be sure to pass along your praises to Cisco and all the staff in camp.

Wilderness Safaris is an ecotourism company that specialises in creating memorable journeys in some of the most remote and pristine areas in Africa, while at the same time helping to ensure the future protection of Africa’s spectacular wildlife heritage and sharing the benefits of tourism with local communities. At Wilderness Safaris, we believe in creating journeys, not holidays. A journey is an immersive experience, one that changes how you view the world in general and the wild places of Africa in particular.

Than you again,
The Team at Little Mombo

We have been to several high end safari camps in Africa...and this is the BEST overall based on our four night stay. The food, the service, the room were all top notch...but the game viewing and the guide we had (Yompy) were simply the best. We saw the "Big Five" on our first two game drives and saw the offspring of the Big Five almost every day. I wore out my finger taking pictures! Mombo has it all and the staff go overboard to make you comfortable. Without being invasive, they are ensuring your utmost satisfaction.

Room tip: Some rooms are quite a hike from the lodge so I would suggest: 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7...but being further away creates even more seclusion.

Dear Rick L,

Thank you for your marvelous review and high praise, we are overjoyed to hear you saw the entire Big 5 during your stay. This is in large part thanks to the amazing guides we have in camp who are highly skilled and adept to tracking the game throughout the area.

The concession has been very exciting over recent months; with continuous and amazing sightings. To name one of the most exciting: cheetah with cubs, and cheetah with a kill. It is very exciting that these beautiful cats are staying within our game drive areas as they have been quite scarce in the area for many years. In addition we are lucky in that Mombo has exclusive use of the area. This means that much of the wildlife has become extremely habituated to our presence which allows for superb viewing and “finger cramping” photographic opportunities.

Thank you again, we hope you will visit us again, soon.

Wow! Mombo and our fantastic guide Sevara, kept over-achieving from the moment we arrived until we left. Each game drive just went from one top to the other. After seven safaris we have never experienced anything like this before - Mombo is indeed the land of plenty. Due to a mistake with our booking we ended up three days at Mombo! We had read a lot about how fantastic this camp is and the wildlife and it was all true. All Wilderness premium camps (we have visited five) are great with excellent food and hospitality – so also Mombo. What makes Mombo stand out is the wildlife and the beautiful nature. We saw just so much wildlife on each drive; elephants, huge herd of buffalo, zebras, wild dogs hunting, 24 lions etc, etc. The highlight though was the 7 small lion cubs playing in the grass, the leopard with a cub and both a white and a black rhino. Each drive was so full of excitement and our guide Sevara showed an extreme knowledge of the wildlife and could interpret all their sounds and behaviours and tracked down the animals in an amazing way. He was also fun to be around – we can highly recommend him. What also make a place like Mombo special is that you hardly meet any other cars on the game drives. The wildlife experience becomes so unique when you can spend time alone watching the animals.

We also want to give a big thanks to all the Mombo staff. They were so friendly and attentive and made this stay memorable. The Boma night, the food, the sun-downers all was great. The whole camp has just a unique atmosphere.

Mombo is extremely expensive, but worth every penny, we can recommend the camp in all ways. We will definitely be back!

Room tip: Chose room 1 if you like to have true wilderness experience - furthest from the main area

Dear Vibny,

We are delighted to hear that this little mistake with your booking gave you three wonderful nights with us at Mombo and that it turned out to be such a wonderful experience for you. We will be sure to pass along your kind words and praises to Severa and the whole team on the ground.

We are furthermore glad to hear of you many encounters with the Mathata Lion Pride, who is currently raising seven new cubs. The lion activity has been spectacular with one group of guests witnessing three lion kills in three drives! With large herds of buffalo also filling the plains the lions have been close behind them, making for some spectacular interactions for the guests to see.

Thank you again,
The Team at Mombo

I went to Mombo during green season. I was met by heavy rain but the rest of our stay was dry and FANTASTIC. 15 minutes into the first game drive, Mr Blue eyes (leopard) was found in a tree and from there it just continued. Best ever animal sightings safari (out of thirteen). Camp of course great, nice staff, superb food and wines.
Great game viewing also in camp + some exitement with an elephant that didn't let us pass on the walkway ;) In all a fantastic stay and really hope I will return soon.

Thank you Triglis, for your beautiful feedback we are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us and really enjoy the recount of all your amazing sightings. We hope you will come back soon so that we can all make wonderful new memories together.

As you said, it is not for nothing that Mombo is known as “the place of plenty”, It is often said that as soon as you walk out onto the main deck at Mombo and note the plain dotted with a variety of species of game, you know you are somewhere special. Situated at the northern tip of Chief’s Island, the largest landmass in the Okavango, the game viewing here is exceptional with abundant plains game and predators never far away, from leopard and spotted hyaena to large prides of lion.

Thank you again,
The Team at Mombo
