The Lodging: Technically they are tents, but really it felt like a super-nice room just made with canvas walls. The bed was very comfortable and the furnishings were very nice. We had elbow room here to spread out and the deck had a nice view of the meadow. The bathroom was largely inside but there was a outside shower with on-demand hot water.

Hospitality and food: The food was very good. They offered meat and vegetarian options and always had a selection of cheese on-hand for breakfast and lunch (and as you can see by my profile name, I am a cheese hound). We had a good group staying there with us and that somehow made the dinners even nicer.

The Location: Since it's located w/in the Kihwe community area, we had the option for night drives. Alas, we didn't see too much on the night drive but the sunsets were nice. The roads are bone-jarring in this area so work on buffing up your core before you go. It's also very close to the Moremi reserve. So the two areas offered variety in our viewing: birds, predators and herbivores. They offer very long game drives. I found the 5 hours 2x per day to be a bit much, so you should feel comfortable telling them what you want.

We recently spent 6 weeks in Africa, and 5 days at Sango. The accomodations were very pleasant, food excellent, and the GAME and GUIDES exceptional. This is a small, intimate camp, could not have been any nicer. The manager, Face, is an exceptional guide and tracked animals we would never have expected to see. He is a personable fellow and great teacher. Tony, another guide, was also exceptional.
We highly recommend Sango to anyone who wants to experience the real Africa.

The camp staff lead by Pearl are excellent. They deliver exceptional service, great quality food and a great customer experience. I can not compliment their service enough, ever smiling attentive without being overpowering. The food here was the best of the 3 camps we stayed at (that is saying something as the other 2 were excellent). The reason for the low scoring was the poor guiding experience. The general manager 'Face' was our guide for our 3 night stay, although we did see cheetah, leopard, wild dog and a hyena pack (5 adults and 5 pups) it was all haphazard. There are 2 game options at Sango Moremi, and the Khwai concession. During our stay the game density seemed low but that is not an issue as all animals have legs and go where they please. Our issue was our guide (it was the only game drive we had with no spotter) the lack of customer focus displayed by Face was disappointing. He just seemed to want to talk to the locals (he is from Khwai village himself). Although the morning game drives here are the longest we experienced from 07:00 until 12:00 they seemed an eternity as we spent hours driving around without any commentary at all from face. He would then stop the vehicle and have 10 minute chats on the radio. None of these seemed to be from other game vehicles as he never got any steers as to where the animals were from the radio.
To counter my negative review the other guests rated their guides highly (DT and Four Four).

We again arrived in a flying hair dryer well flown and were picked up at the sand strip by a ranger in an open land rover so we were well in the middle of all the wildlife before we got to our camp a large herd of elephants blocked our way for a while as they met another group at the waterhole we had to drive through. On arrived we again were welcomed by the staff sing a song for us. The accommodation was glamping and not camping which included a shower toilet and all things you would expect at home. At night we had elephants rattling the tent but didn't try to get in just passing. Our ranger Tony was wonderful and managed to lean out of the vehicle and track a leopard which was a great effort. Pearl our host was really very good and as with all staff put the maximum effort into making our 2 day stay a great Our food was very good and early in the mornings and late at night we were given ponchos and blankets to keep warm on the vehicles and oh boy it was cold and you needed them and the staff even provided hot water bottles for the beds you wouldn't believe you needed them in Africa but in their winter as the sun drops down it becomes cold very quickly.

Room Tip: All tents were the same and all in good positions.

Recently come back from a Botswana safari: the first 3 nights were spent at the Sango. We were a little unsure what to expect from an unfenced, tented bush camp but we were very pleasantly surprised. The room itself is very nice, clean and comfortable, with a nice bathroom and shower cubicle with plenty of hot water. We didn't get much time for sitting outside on the very pleasant veranda facing the river as we were always on the go.
We never had the feeling of being at risk from wildlife but we were very much aware of being surrounded by animals (particularly at night) and enjoying the sensation of occupying part of their territory, with the real possibility of making interesting encounters! We did enjoy some wonderful moments when the only noises we could hear were nature/animal noises, nothing man made.
The food was excellent and the staff very attentive without being overwhelming or pushy.
The absolute highlight for us was a morning drive (by the way, we were always in and out of ponds with the jeep but always avoiding getting wet, quite fun), during which we finally got to see the most beautiful, gorgeous leopard. We must thank Tony, our guide, who was absolutely brilliant at reading the signs and finding the tracks and finally spotted it. We just sat in the jeep for quite a while, in silence, looking at this splendid animal who didn't seem particularly bothered by our presence. Tony was our guide for the 3 days we spent at Sango and we must say that he was pretty amazing: very knowledgeable, interesting and well informed without ever being boring.
Our thanks to all the staff but in particular to Tony, Pearl and the chef whose very good food we enjoyed. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending this camp. We would certainly go back.

Room Tip: We were in room 4, next to the communal/restaurant tent and it was pretty good.

We stayed two nights at this well located camp and wish we had another day at least at Sango. The bed was very comfortable and the bathrooms clean. Make sure you take hair conditioner - we did not find it in the lodges we stayed at other than Nxai Pan.Food was tasty and the welcome song by staff at Sango was a pleasant surprise. Wished we could hear more from the Sango Choir! Face, the manager was a good host and a very knowledgeable guide. We also had a couple of enjoyable game drives with Fofo (?). Long game drives and being able to go off-road enabled us to see more than at some of the other lodges we stayed at. We particularly enjoyed seeing leopards and the Hyena with cubs!

This was our third camp in Botswana and after the first 2, we were wondering how it could meet the standard set by the first 2, but it did.
The welcome song and dance when we arrived made us feel like royalty and the performance the night before we left was heartrendingly beautiful. The cook sings as well as she cooks and Joseph, the waiter is the best baritone counterpoint. I don't eat red meat and had delicious special meals prepared every day, as did another guest with coeliac disease. As Joseph said, they know what to do. The tents are spacious and comfortable, but you don't spend a lot of time there as the main guest area is warm and friendly and lends itself to lots of interaction with other guests and staff. Face, the manager, is a member of the Sango family and you really feel he is welcoming you to his home.
Tony, our guide seemed like a bit of a cowboy when he drove us from the airstrip, through water over a metre deep. But over the next 3 days we found him to be considerate and very competent, concerned for our welfare and with encyclopaedic knowledge of the wildlife and the area. We had a flat tyre as sunset approached one day, and the jack didn't work. Tony told us not to worry, there is always a plan B and plan C, which he did have to activate. We got bogged in mud the next day, and had a hippo confront the vehicle in the dark, with the vehicle nearly submerged in water. Tony remained cool, calm and collected throughout and got us out of these situations and back to camp safe and sound, without showing any signs of stress.
A great camp, I would love to return one day.
