Pretty heavy access from North, necessary to cross river by car without a bridge. Camp itself is not marked and pretty difficult to find a site without a guidance. Amenities are good but slightly distant, however water is at each site. Water is present only if solar panels are working. Dust and sand is everywhere. A lot of antelopes. Seen no other animals otherwise. Road extremely boring

We stayed at Khwai for 2 nights in August 2012 - we also stayed at Savuti and Ihaha. Khwai was by far the best and cleanest of these sites.
Staff were friendly and helpful (thank you to the guy at the gate office who helped us with our punture in our Nissan campervan). Great games drives along the river routes. Easy to find.
Ablution blocks cleanest we encountered. Each site had own fire pit and water supply. Staff sell wood for fires if needed (we had bought bundles for 10 pula on way in).

We spent 3 nights at North Gate (Khwai) Campsite during a camping trip into the Moremi Game Reserve. Even if the booking was paid prior to our arrival, a special "bed levy" had to be paid at the gate, so don't forget to include these fees in your budget.

We camped at the closest pitch to the bridge... It wasn't a good a idea due to the nocturnal sounds which could be heard the whole night from the village and from the surrounding buldings (dogs barking, cars, generators etc). Dogs from the nearest village were also seen in camp. The nearest ablution block to our pitch had no water during our whole stay in the camp.

Its nice because you are halfway on your way to Chobe and enables you to drive around in Moremi a bit more. Its also exiting since there are no borders around the camp, so you cant go out at night to take a pee, cause there could be elephants, hyena's of lions outside. not allowed to go here with children below 12 or 14.

We had a great site right by the water, overlooking Khwai bridge. No problems at all with baboons, as we had read to expect. The ablution blocks are relatively modern and well equipped, but the water system was no running due to a fault the night we stayed, which proved to be a problem.

We had to book and paid for prior to our arrival, this was done online with The National parks and Wildlife Service. Hot showers and toilets are available and kept very clean (campsite clean).

The campsite is very close to Khwai village. We went there and had cold drinks at a shop which was good fun.

I spent one nights at North Gate (Khwai) Campsite during a camping trip into the Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana. It was booked and paid for prior to our arrival, this was done at The National parks and Wildlife Service in Maun.
It has 10 large pitches, There is no drinking water or electric.
This was our least favourite campsite in Moremi, It was dirty, I think this was due to the lack of a designated ‘campfire’ space, so fires had been lit all over pitches. This campsite is also close to the Khwai Village, you can hear dogs barking all night long, very loud singing, but it was Sunday?
The ablution blocks are new, built with joint funding from the EU. There are solar panels for hot water, but they did not seem to be operating. This could be due to the villagers useing the ablution blocks ( I don’t blame them) so hot water is an issue.
Baboons were also a problem here, they were more aggressive than at Third Bridge Campsite.
