Stayed with my husband on a business trip for one month. The ocean view from the room was great but the room itself was extremely old and dated. Housekeeping was average with daily reminders for room cleaning. Room service needs much to be desired as the wait is very long. Food in the restaurant though is tasty but here again the waiting time is lengthy. Pool is average and located near the restaurant so your meal and drinks could be delivered to you. Checking and checkouts are frustrating for non Spanish speakers. This hotel might be good for business conferences but lousy for vacation stay.

Room tip: Ask for a room with ocean view

This hotel is situated on the hill by the Puerto La Cruz bay viewing the island which is very beautiful sunrise if you get a front facing room. It has a good restaurant by the pool that offers service. It has several conference rooms available.

I had to stay at the Punta Palma for 3 weeks on a business trip last month.
I can understand the political and economical situation of Venezuela that has definitely impacted the hotel, lack of food at breakfast buffet (no bread and no more than 10 items), no foreign TV channels, no wifi in the rooms, elevators not working, air conditioning not working, etc....
But what is totally unacceptable is the staff's attitude, they were the rudest, more unhelpful and unfriendly that I have ever seen anywhere in the world, and Venezuelans are well known for its warmth and friendliness, so I honestly do not know where the management got their staff from, not a single exception, front desk, room cleaners, waiters, etc...
Besides that, rooms had wonderful views and hotel was safe and you could easily walk to the beach or to "El Morro" a hill next to the hotel with views all over the city.

Room tip: High floors seem to be somewhat refurbished and have better views.

After a few stay here on business trip, this time i was prepard with own water boiler and oatmeal. It was a good idea. Now there were not even hot water in the shower. But the view towards the beach is nice.

Room tip: Ask for room on side towards the beach.
