“Good value pousada- would definitely recommend!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here before and after Angel Falls trip.

Pousada is a fair way out of town, but there isn't much in town so it's actually a nice little oasis. No wifi (have to travel to town to get that at one of the shopping centers) but you can use Reiner's computer to check email for a small cost.
Spacious rooms with aircon, nice pool, laundry service and nice cheap meals.

We unfortunately booked the Angel Falls trip through Bernal Tours (DON'T GO THROUGH THEM- TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!) - we should have booked through Reiner's company, everyone else there had, and were very happy with their experience.

He also helped us organise a transfer to get there from Santa Elena, and transfer to the Puerto Ordaz airport.

Would definitely recommend this pousada!!!

My wife booked Posada La Casita along with a tour of Angel Falls, but since we were traveling separately at the beginning I arrived on my own the day before our reservation. I had a very challenging road trip from Margarita Island and ended up lost in a taxi after midnight when I finally called Peter at the posada. Luckily he picked up the phone and sent out his driver to find me! Peter was very hospitable and made me feel very welcome even at such a late hour. My wife arrived the next morning and we enjoyed a very comfortable room and excellent meals at very reasonable prices, before and after our trip to Angel Falls. We enjoyed our stay so much that I booked another night here since Ciudad Bolivar ended up being a good place to change from bus to airplane on my return trip. Even though they are a little out of the city, the transportation is excellent and I would highly recomend Posada La Casita.

Stayed in Posada La Casita for 2 nights in November 2011. We arrived in Ciudad Bolivar by plane from Caracas and the plane was more than an hour late - but luckily Posada La Casita´s driver was waiting for us in the airport. The pick-up service is very convenient and it´s almost impossible to reach the place on your own.

Posada La Casita is located out of town and is about 20 minutes drive to the town centre. The place has lovely garden and a great swimming pool, open even late at night so you can enjoy swimming under the stars. The outdoor setting of the place is just great.

There were 3 of us and we stayed in a bigger room with 5 beds and a/c. WC and shower were attached. The room was extremely spacious and clean and allowed us to have a good sleep before heading to Canaima.

We tried their dinner and it was homey and quite delicious - nothing outrageous, but still nice.

They provide a daily shuttle service to Ciudad Bolivar and back for free - it´s an important part of the deal as the place is located beyond town´s boundaries. We stayed for about 6 hours in Ciudad Bolivar and that was way too much - there not much activities in the town, so don´t plane more than one day for that. Actually main attractions take about 1,5 hours, then just wander around the town.

People in La Casita are mostly nice and friendly. Unfortunately we didn´t meet Peter, who actually run the place. Instead, we dealt with his relative Reiner, who was mostly kind, but had some quirky sense of humour.

The only negative aspect about our stay in La Casita relates to the drop-off to the airport. We didn´t book a tour to the Angel Falls with Gekko Tours as we were suggested to use Bernal Tours instead and got about 1,5 times cheaper offer from Bernal. So I informed Reiner well in advance (at the time of booking) that we are not going to use Gekko Tours services. On departure from La Casita we asked for a drop-off to the airport and were ready to pay for that as it´s not included in the price. We were told that it´s free for guests. Well, we didn´t bothered - free is free. Upon arriving to the airport Reiner from La Casita went to talk to Walter from Bernal Tours and then left. Walter told us that Reiner asked him to pay an outrageous sum of about 100 of so BFs for put lift to the airport. We were really pissed and called for Reiner, who tried to explain us that it´s not our business to pay for the transportation as actually he brought customers to Bernal Tours and the company has to pay for that! Of course we paid the sum ourselves, but we were really disappointed at that stage. We really asked well in advance and right before departure whether or not need we to pay for the lift and were ready to pay - and were assured we don´t have to do so. But it turned out that they charge the other company instead! In my opinion it´s not fair. I booked an accommodation in La Casita and paid for it. I was ready to pay for the transport. How is the other company I´m using is related to that? The incident mentioned above left us disappointed and ruined our mood.

Overall the accommodation and the place itself is great and we really enjoyed our stay there. But they definitely should be more fair and honest about the business and not charge other competitive companies. Everything would be just great if they told us straight away what the lift cost and we´d pay without hesitation. But hidden charges and this kind of robust business is not fair.

We stayed at La Casita before and after our trip to Salto Angel and really enjoyed staying there. Although the posada is a little bit out of town, this is not a problem as we were picked up and dropped off when necessary. The rooms are very nice and clean, and there is a nice swimming pool in the well-kept garden. the food is very nice and reasonably priced. But what made our stay at La Casita even more enjoyable was Reiner and Pieter. The hosts were extremely helpful. They made sure our trip to Salto Angel went smoothly and they helped us sort out future travel arrangements that had gone wrong! We really appreciated the effort and warm welcome from Reiner and Pieter and strongly recommend staying at La Casita.

booked tour to the angel falls through la casita (Gekko Tours). tour did not run because of technical reasons of the aircraft. we doubt this. we think three passengers were to less for them to fly. profit is important for this operator but not customer satisfaction. staff unfriendly and incompetent. not recommended. please do not book here. only disappointments. posada very far from town and very very basic, a bit dirty.
