“Coconuts”
Review of La Playita

La Playita is a traditional cocquera on the corner of Av Bolivar and Santos Michelena park.

It's a very simple set-up: a huge pile of coconuts, a few tables and chairs and a guy with a machete. He takes a coconut and with a couple of expert, casual chops opens the top so you can drink the coconut water with a straw. Once it's dry, he opens it up a bit more for you so you can scoop out the flesh using a piece of the shell as a scoop.

I probably don't need to say it is absolutely delicious! Sadly, though, thise kind of cafe/store is dying out now.
