“It's a good hotel, but don't expect too much”
Reviewed September 26, 2010

It's a nice hotel, in one of the few good areas still left in Caracas. The hotel looks good, check-in was good, service was ok, room was ok. Bed was too soft and water in bathtub took forever to plug out. Hotel is in the middle of the city, so a lot of traffic during the week, you might hear them, depending on your room location.
The hotel price is high, if compared Bs. to the official $ exchange rate. TIP: exchange your $ to the street Bs. rate and you'll notice a nice price difference.
Lock away all your valuables in the in-room safe when leaving the room. We got the scare of our life's, when we returned to our room, some were gone, to find out later, a supervisor had put them in out in-room safe, but didn't leave a note.
Restaurant in the hotel was good and a few other restaurants in walking distance. They recommend to take the taxi's at the hotel for your own safety and not to take the (cheaper) street taxi's, which I agree with.
Overall nice stay, friendly staff. It's a shame the crime rate is so high, would love to see more of the city while I was there, hope to go back sometime soon.

I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions in the past year, mostly for 1-night stays. Caracas is a pretty dreadful city by any standard, and in comparison the Marriott feels like an oasis away from the madness. It is located in a business area without many places of interest around, and only s couple of restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

The hotel is very standard, late 80s style. Unimpressive by all accounts, it is comfortable nonetheless. Reception staff do their job without much interest and staff in general, whilst polite, seem mostly aloof. You have to prod them in order to get them to go the extra mile, like having to ask reception nicely to use the changing rooms at the fitness centre after a long night flight and they won't allow you to check in early.

Facilities are somewhat limited - there are the standard fitness rooms, business centre and a small swimming pool, all of which are pretty unremarkable. Breakfast is ok, but as others have mentioned, completely overpriced.

Rooms are large and comfortable, in that typically boring Marriott standard, with too much carpeting, darkwood furniture and heavy wallpaper. They are comfortable nonetheless.

Finally, everything here is outrageously expensive, starting with the rooms, at USD 400. If you have the chance, exchange cash during your stay at "black market" rates and pay in local currency cash at check out, and the room will be more than 50% cheaper than if you pay by credit card.

I have stayed for one night at hotel, social areas are dark and not nice, The hotel room decent but not wonderful for the price pais about $400.00 for one night, Hotel wanted to charge me $80,00 for transportation cost from Hotel to Airport, In the way inn I have paid $25,00
The hotel looks bad when they are toursit traps, you walk out the door and you get the same transportation for about $20.00

In Caracas there are not many places where you can safely stay. This hotel is the one. It is located in the business district of the city where you can hardly find any sightseeing but trust me you'd better stay here and take a car (only recommended by the hotel) to go to downtown Caracas. Overall the hotel is good. Rooms are spacious. There is a fitness center with an outdoor swimming pool. However we never used it because it is on the swecond floor and people from other building can see you swimming. Food is average by European or US standards but ok. You will not see much choice for breakfast. Dinner menu is also not reach but still ok. I would recommend Juan Sebastian Bar. It is right across the street from the hotel. Food is very good there.

Hotel was fine, but price outrageous! For close to USD 500 per night, one should expect something extraordinary. This was OK, but value for money was below par!.

The JW Marriott was top notch and not just for the country. This was one of the nicest hotels I've seen in the world. The rooms were large with everything you could want.
