“Up in the sky”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Heard a lot about the hustle bustle of Venezuela and opted to see the vast touristic attraction. Once you are in the cable car, you start enjoying the wonderful view of Caracas and Avila. I can never climb the mountain and this cable car shows wonderful city, greenery, colorful Venezuela. Once you are up, you can walk around and enjoy typical Venezuelan style cariapa sandwiches and fruit drinks.

“Nice trip, but lines can be long and there are mechanical issues.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

The tereferico offers great views on your way to the top of the Avila - and one way to get there without having to climb the mountain. The Avila is great - again, beautiful views (when it's not cloudy), good food, some shops. The Avila is crowded during peak times (like the weekend) and can have mechanical problems, especially in the years since the government took it over. Always double check it's open before heading out in Caracas traffic to get there. Remember the Avila is high up, so the temps are cooler. Nice in the summer, especially, but you might need a sweater or jacket up there, esp. in the winter.

“A ride to the top of the avila mountain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

Developed during the military dictatorship together with the humboldt hotel, the cable car takes you up to the top of the iconic avila mountain, where you can enjoy a spectacular view from the city and the Caribbean ocean. Around the station there are food options, but the best way to enjoy the trip is to take a jeep to the mountain town of San Jose de galipan, where you can eat in five star restaurants (many require previous reservation) while watching the sunset, ride a horse and eat strawberrys with cream or hot chocolate. Ideal for couples, friends or family with children, the visit is a great plan for a weekend day, just remember to bring a jacket or sweater, cash and arrive early to avoid long lines and enjoy the full day.
