“Great Peking Duck”
Reviewed April 7, 2012

Still a landmark. Out of the trodden path, but a favorite in the city for Peking Duck. Served by white-gloved waiters and carved right in fromt of you.

“One of the best (if not THE best) chinese restaurants-cantonese style in Caracas”
Reviewed October 14, 2011

We discovered El Palmar like 6 years ago. Not a usual place to look for a restaurant (Bello Monte) since it is kind of hiding from the main street, still from the first time we went, it enchanted us with its wide variety of cantonese style food. Been going there almost like every month since and couldn't love it more. Don't expect luxurious service cause you won't get it here. Service is impeccable but on the simple side. Staff is knowledgeable, helpful, service-oriented, will accomodate nearly all customer needs anytime. Owner is ALWAYS around willing to explain that certain dish you are probably interested in, or even offer a taste plate that perhaps isn't even on the menu. Our kids absolutely love the food which is great. Dim Sum style entrees are delicious wether fried or steamed. Wide variety of rice, chicken, pork and beef cantonese style dishes. And of course the special Pekin style duck is really something. Ask for the special shrimp rice or the spicy Singapore-style noodles, chicken tangerine or buda style vegetables. The special plate of giant shrimp with xo sauce is absolutely delicious. Finish with delicate chinese lichees and perhaps a sake or a nice chinese tea. Every meal a first class dining experience, chinese style. El Palmar history goes back a lot of decades and in the entrance you will be able to see pictures, and newspaper articles as well as plaques from politicians and venezuelan personalities. Sometimes I think they have managed to keep the high quality of the food and attention by not changing a lot in the place's decor (which is a bit dated lol). But in the end, it's all about the food folks. And this place absolutely rocks in that department. Love it!
