TAke teh boat ride thorugh La Restinga. There is also a museum which is quite good to visit. La Restinga is very quiet and peaceful, you will be able to see red starfish, seahorses and "garzas" a kind of bird that are white, black or red.. lovely trip!

Guides will take you in their covered motorized boats out into the mangroves, which are home to many birds (crack of dawn and late in the day is when they are most active) and you'll see other creatures like little star fish, crabs and other things who live only in the mangroves.

This was a cool trip! A boat ride through the Lagoon. There are star fish and seahorse you can actually see first-hand, up close and personal!

Great opportunity to see local flora and fauna: starfish, pelicanos, other types of fish and birds. You sail through a mangrove swamp, and you can take many pictures and hold a starfish in your hands and let it go back to the trees afterwards.

As other reviewers have pointed out, the boat tour is fantastic. We encountered beautiful mangroves, pelicans, starfish and seahorses. I would recommend asking the driver to drop you off at the beach for a few hours then pick you up later.

The beach itself is good, but there's a restaurant there serving fresh fish, shrimp, seafood etc. This itself is great (try a plate of garlic fried shrimp with banana chips - delicious) but when walking in you'll notice some girls selling oysters. They will happily serve you a plate of a dozen oysters for $1 at your table - these were some of the freshest and most delicious I've had in years. Since they do not work as part of the restaurant - courtesy is to order at least something light from the restaurant as well. Beers are <$1 and frosty cold!

The beach itself is loaded with deck chairs and is comfortable. I wouldn't count on lifeguards as in Western countries but there were plenty of people swimming when I visited. This is a good place to observe gorgeous Venezuelan women while sipping on an icy cold beer.
