“The nicest restaurant in Merida”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

Nice food in a superb location. Anyone will love the place, with its medieval monastery decoration with different ambience a to choose from.

“Beautiful restaurant, wonderful service but let down on the food!”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

We were recommended to visit this restaurant by another traveller who had eaten here the previous night and we thought it would be something a bit special to do.

This is an old monastery so it maintains some very nice features within the décor. We sat upstairs which is partially open air but not cold. Downstairs is a very pretty little bar, it was a very quiet night but there was still a nice ambience there.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly and spoke English to us and even let us practice our terrible pigeon Spanish!

The wine that was recommended was the best white wine we have had on our visit to Venezuela and was served properly allowing us to taste it and being left in a wine bucket which was also a first for since arriving in Venezuela and made me feel at home.

Unfortunately the food was not as good as we could have hoped given how nice the place is. My boyfriend had the local speciality soup to start and I tasted it, it was very nice if a little bland. I then had chicken in mushroom sauce with mash potatoes. The chicken was cooked well but the mushrooms were tinned which was vey disappointing and the mash was very nice - especially as I had not been well and this was good comfort food for me and the first mash I had had since I came away from the UK. My boyfriend had the fajitas which were not really fajitas and the meat was in a kind of soy sauce but was very sweet and not particularly nice - he ended up finishing off my meal instead!

Overall it is a nice place compared to some other places in Merida in terms of décor and service but the food lets it down. This being the case I would go back for drinks or coffee but not lunch or dinner.

“Good atmosphere and good food”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

We enjoyed the ambiance and the pasta dishes. We stayed three nights in Merida and this restaurant was our favorite. We are vegetarians and found good options for ourselves here.

“Mediocre food & service, pretentious decor”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

The decor is based on someone's idea of a monastery. The waiter is dressed in a uniform that comines monk, knight templar, and Crusader Rabbit.

The food is mediocre. When you get stale bread, mayonnaise in you caesar salad, and a weak drink, you know the place needs a new chef. Inferior in comparison to good restaurants in the area. Walk a few blocks to Plaza Milla where you'll find better food and service.
