“Great place to spend your holiday!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2011

Stayed here for five days in November 2011. Great service. Clean rooms. Short distance to shops. The family runnig the hotel are nice and friendly. Great breakfast - bread, ham, cheese, yoghurt, fresh juice every morning. Included in the rooms are hot and cold water, hairdrier, safe, fridge, and a small pool. Wireless Internet in the reception. Great restaurants nearby; but we gadgets really bad experience with the restaurant with name "Pea". The rest is both cheap and have nice prices.

We stayed for four nights in Room 12 and found the room very tired with no hot water. The staff were friendly but did not speak much English. It took 3 days before they agreed that our water was tepid so were given a key to another room. Don't stay in Room 12. The rooms were kept very clean.

Room Tip: Don't book a standard room!

A quiet time for the hotel but the staff were very helpful. We had a departure to Tahiti that was delayed from 19:35 to 01:30 the next morning. The lady in the office allowed us to wait in our room and stayed on duty until the transport to the airport collected un as 22:30. Recommend this as a place to stay on Easter Island .. walking distance to everything in Hanga Roa

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our holiday, Natural Wonders of Chile, booked through Llama Travel.

When we arrived at the hotel, the reception staff was very friendly and efficient. We stayed in room 20, which was a superior room with air condition. The room was very clean, spacious with plenty of luggage space. It also had a mini bar, fridge and safe which when we were taken to our room the instructions on how to use the safe was explained. No tea or coffee making facilities or TV. The room had french doors leading onto the gardens, which were well maintained, where we had our own patio table and chairs and a lovely mural on our wall. The hotel also had a small pool which we definitely made use of as the weather was lovely and hot when we were there. The hotel provides pool towels, just ask at reception. The reception area has free Wi-Fi, you just obtain the code from the staff and a communal TV where you could watch DVDs. There is also a small book swap.

At breakfast, the tables are numbered to coincide with your room number, so check the numbers to make sure you are sitting at the correct table. There was an elderly lady who made sure you sat at the right table and handed out 1 slice of toast to everyone, she was extremely nice. Breakfast consisted of cereals, fruit juices, cheese, ham, yogurts, fruits, home made rolls and cake. The usual tea and coffee were also available. We found the breakfast to be very nice and plentiful.

The hotel is very near to the harbour, restaurants and shops. When you come out of the hotel, turn left and within 5 minutes you are at the church, turn left again and walk straight down you are at the sea. The post office is also on this road, just passed the fire station, where if you take your passport they will stamp it for you, a good souvenir of Rapi Nui.

We found the food in the restaurants to be very nice but quite expensive, two main meals with a couple of beers each to be approx £35. We had lunch at the kiosks near the football pitch, good choice of sandwiches etc with reasonable prices.

Our excursions were organised by Rapi Nui tours and our guide on both days was Daniella. We found her to be very informative, very passionate of Rapi Nui although she was from mainland Chile, friendly and her english was excellent. We visited Ranu Raraku quarry, Ceremonial centre of Orongo, site of Ahu Akivi and the beach at Anakena.

The stars at night are amazing, no light pollution lets you see everything in the night sky, fantastic!!

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Easter Islands and we recommend anyone to stay at the Hotel Gomero.

Stayed here for 3 days, and enjoyed it. We had been told the room would be basic, so were pleasantly surprised. It was very large, with a patio door leading to decking overlooking the tropical garden. There was a decent fridge, and comfortable beds, and everything was neat clean and tidy. Not much hanging space for clothes, but adequate shelving and drawers for unpacking. The shower was powerful, and the water hot whenever we needed it. The room was quiet at night and we slept well
The breakfast room was ruled by an elderly islander who liked things done her way- we were allocated a table , and even though all the other tables were empty she wouldn't let us move to one with a better view of the gardens!. Content wise the breakfast was fine- different local fruits, juices , cheese ham etc, and rationed toast!
El Gomero is away from the main 2 streets of Hanga Roa, but only a 10 min walk from lots of restaurants shops and the sea.
As mentioned the gardens were lovely, but sadly during our stay the swimming pool was closed. Staff friendly and helpful- apart from the breakfast supervisor!. They will lend towels to take to the beach

I loved this little hotel in Hanga Roa. It's beautiful and peaceful, the rooms are comfortable and clean, and the staff are super-friendly and helpful. Refrigerator and air conditioning in the room. Easy walking distance to restaurants, post office, mini-market, etc.. Two minor caveats - the hotel restaurant was only open for breakfast (at least while I was there), and there is no Internet or wireless service at the hotel.

Good location (about 15 min walk from main street), very friendly and helpful reception staff, hotel has beautiful decoration and also beautiful and very well maintained garden.

Depend on the time you can find free tea offered that is very good.

Breakfast is good. The room it is served has a beautiful view of the garden. You should look for your room number on the table. Every day you will be at a different table. The fruit served may differ from table to table, you do not choose the fruit you will eat. Cake is usually served, sometimes they may forget for your table (it happened just once to me). Jams are two kind: guava and mango (they are produced in Easter Island) alternately. Guava is better, mango jam seems a little strange. It would be better if the breakfast is served earlier (it is served from 08:30) on Sundays because of the mass in church (it begins at 09:00 and is very crowded).

Rooms have big window with insect screen which is very good because you can open the window and have fresh air without a lot of bugs (the room can get very hot if you close the window).
In the toilet small window there is no insect screen.

Bed cover does not look clean because it is white. Probably the dust of Easter Island make it looking like dirty or it should be washed more frequently.

If you go to the toilet or take a shower check before and every time if there are soap and towels available in the room (when I arrived, there is no soap in the room and in next days, there are no towels at all in one day and in the other day there are no hand towels). If there is no some item, ask to the reception people; they promptly provide the lacked item (hard to note the lack of the towel after took a shower, like me).

The hotel provides beach towels that is very good, you don't have to take your bath towel to Anakena beach.

The floor of the room should be cleaned better. I noted that there was old dust. The floor of the toilet was dirty in one of the days because probably someone entered in the room to fix the dripping shower and no one cleaned after that.

The other areas of the hotel look like very clean.

Incense smell in garden is strong and is bad for people like me that suffer of migraine (a very painful type of headache) caused by undesired smells.

Take care of room rate when you make reservation in advance. When I made a reservation about 11 months before, the room rate for December 2009 was already published in their home page but afterwards it raised. I only noted the change because I had to change the reservation for a double room (US$ 120 in January) to single room and the single room was more expensive (US$ 125) than the room rate for double room that I had (it raised to US$ 156).

The stay in the hotel was pleasant. I want to recommend to my friends and also want to stay there again. It will better if they make improvements that are so simple about what I noted.
