Great place! you see the restored plataform and moais, if you are lucky you'll see the guardian of this place going around painted as a rapa nui and wearing typical clothing

We cycled from the town to Ahu Tongariki, it took us a while to go up and down the hills to get there. But once you are there, all the sweat and huge efforts were forgotten; the view was so majestic. It is definitely a must to go to Rapa Nui and visit Ahu Tongariki.

These Moais stand with their back to the ocean and look direktly to Rano Raraku. I went there for sunrise, it was amazing. In 1960 a Tsunami destroyed the statues and in 1993 they started restauring them with the technicel help of Japanese engineers. One of the Moais was allowed to be shown in Japan, so it ist called the "Traveler".
