Owner description: A hike to the summit of this 400m volcano offers panoramic views of the island's solitude in the South Pacific.

One of the most jaw dropping spots on Easter Island. It reminded me of Crater Lake National Park in Oregon but this one is much smaller. From the main viewpoint, you can take a full shot of the volcano with a 16mm wide-angle lens - or take a panoramic shot. When we were there, the weather was picture perfect and the blue ocean waters behind the crater added to the gorgeous scenery. Within the lake, there are some rare plants that grow nowhere else in the world and some have even been used for medicinal purposes. If you have the time, hike around to the other side.

Truly amazing views from the extinct volcano. It's height overlooks a vast portion of the island. The geological structure of the volcano is as perfect as a volcano should be. The lake in the crater of the volcano seems to be covered with debris. There is a park interpretive center at the top of the volcano which has a lot of information about the volcano and the surrounding area.

What a crater! And the lake is quite weird to look at. Easy to get to by car but I think there is a short cut walking trail if you are prepared to hike.

This is a HUGE (and extinct) volcano, quite the best I've ever seen with spectacular views because of its altitude and you get panoramic views of the island, even though it was a damp day

This is an amazing area from Easter Island. The lake inside the volcano is simply amazing. The drinking water from the island is taken from it. I could spend ages just looking at it and appreciating the view. Simply AWESOME! Don't miss it!
