“Only beach on the island.”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Sole beach we saw on the island. White sand. Ahu with some Moai, though they are smaller ones. Lots of food stands here. Take a break, eat lunch and enjoy the palms. Plenty of craft vendors here too.

“Beautiful spot ...”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

Loved the white sandy beach, it was very busy but we managed to find a quiet spot. Restrooms available for a fee ... very basic but like everything else on Rapa Nui ....

“Swimming under the sight of the Moai”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

One of the few beaches of the isle, with white sand, palms, and warm water. Practically an abridgment of a tropical beach, with a plus (and unique feature) there is a hau with restored moai just in front of the beach.
Being quite the attractive place, it can be crowded, but it is also equipped with small bar and toilets.

“Wild Horses, white sand, blue seas and green palms”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

My 9 year old daughter just loved to swim here. At low tide the waves are small and the water is shallow for quite a long way. It seems to be a safe place to swim and on many days the water was packed full of young and old. At high tide the waves are much rougher and the sea is full of sand and sea weed. We hired an umbrella one day as the sun was really hot and we wanted to be close to the water. There is a lot of shade from the palm trees but that’s about 300m from the water.
The setting is idyllic and just what you imagine of a tropical island. One day about 20 horses walked across the beach making a very pretty picture. In the parking lot are toilet facilities (although no showers) and a few stalls selling food, drinks and souvenirs.

The Moai are interesting and make nice photographs set against the sea and the palm trees. It’s an easy ride back to town on a tarred road and takes about ½ an hour.

We spend 4 or 5 happy afternoons on this beach. Watch out for the sun – even after 18h00 it can still burn. The best beach on Easter Island but its always busy with loads of people.

“Easter Island isn't for beaches....but this one works”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

You're better off going elsewhere if beaches are important. But if you are on the island and want a beach, head here.
