Patio de Moreno

Great rooms in a great location, a converted warehouse on the outskirts of beautiful San Antonio de Areco. Rooms were roomy with nice details. The breakfast room was simply stunning with it's tile floor and high ceiling. A calm pool area for chilling in the afternoon after taking on the sights of the small city.
Minor criticism: some noise from the street outside came in through the windows. The staff was nice but a bit indifferent. And it really took a very long time to get the hot water running - which might explain another travellers argument with the reception according to another review here.

We spent a couple of days here on our last trip to Argentina. We loved it. Cute, quiet, relaxing little town. Great hotel with a great staff. Our only disappointment was that the gaucho museum is closed indefinitely while they make repairs from a flood.

My husband and I wanted to visit an estancia during our trip to Argentina, but we were a bit unsure about staying overnight at one, so we decided to stay at Hotel Patio de Moreno, and what a great decision that was! This is a total gem of a hotel in an unbelievable little town, about an hour outside of Buenos Aires. The town of San Antonio de Areco has a number of good restaurants to eat at and is very close to a few of the estancias where you can go horseback riding. We actually did a day trip to El Ombu- a great working estancia, and had a wonderful time.

Hotel Patio de Moreno has a boutique feel to it, with very interestingly decorated rooms that are stark, with a touch of pampas. We had a lovely time during our stay there.

I was excited for our one night getaway to San Antonio de Areco. I researched staying at an estancia but decided on Hotel Patio de Moreno instead because of its close proximity to the town and the reviews on Trip Advisor. If I could, I would give this hotel a 3.5 stars and rate it as GOOD. The pictures on the website are beautiful and represent the hotel well. The room was very clean but a little sparse for my taste and not alot of personality especially given the building it's in (very beautiful and historical building). The bathroom was the best feature and they had very nice plush bathrobes - bonus! The garden area was very relaxing and we had some beers there with a few other fellow guests. The breakfast was just average in my opinion. There was yogurt, some meats and cheeses, stale baked goods (hard as rock scones), the fruit was gone and never refreshed by the time we got there as well as the coffee, so we didn't get any (we got there 30 min prior to breakfast ending). It was similar to a continental breakfast at a Holiday Inn. The thing that disappointed me was the staff. No one seemed thrilled to have guests. It was very ho-hum, no smiles to speak of, including check-in staff, bar staff, and breakfast staff. This hotel was nice, and if you're not an estancia type, you'll have a pleasant time for a night, but I was expecting a little more than what I got.

This is a very relaxing hotel which has been tastefully modernised and decorated. Nice garden and pool area. The room was spacious and clean. We had two snack lunches here, both were excellent. The buffet style breakfast was also very good. A little expensive for what is after all rural Argentina but I think they have little competition in the town. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. We liked it a lot.
San Antonio de Reco is a dusty, scruffy, run down sort of place but there are several interesting bars, and restaurants full of local characters. The Gaucho museum is worth a visit as is the other museum/art gallery almost next door to the hotel. But two days is all you need here. Easily and quickly accessed from BA.

We spent one night at this lovely boutique hotel. The room was beautiful and nicely furnished with cow hide rugs. However, we did not have hot water for our entire stay. We called to report it-were told they were fixing it-a few hours later we still didn't have hot water. The following morning there still wasn't hot water so we called again. The person on the phone was very helpful and nice. Upon check out there was a woman who seemed to be in charge-my husband requested a discount since because we hadn't been able to shower. She was very argumentative and accused us of lying to try to save money. We left with a bad taste in our mouths simply because of the nasty woman at checkout.

Our room was beautifully furnished. Everything was new, yet the designer still retained the character of the old building. The staff could not have been more helpful. Great breakfast too.
